Giles Packham wrote the score for Outcast, a supernatural thriller starring James Nesbit and Kate Dickie, directed by Colm McCarthy (Ripper Street, The Tudors and Murphy's Law).

The edgy film set in high-rise flats in Edinburgh tells the tale of Petronella and Fergal, her mysterious Irish boyfriend. As their doomed relationship plays out, a Beast stalks the estate, killing locals, working its way towards the protagonists. Meanwhile Cathal and Liam, two mysterious men from Ireland use Celtic ritual and magic on a blood hunt to track Fergal down.

The film premiered in March 2010 as part of the South by Southwest Festival. It was also screened at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival and received a UK release later that year.
Score for the film blended traditional horror orchestration with elements of punk rock and electronic music to reflect the edgy urban setting.

The Zoo TV Series 1 - 4, RTE 1, Animal Planet

Giles Packham writes the score and composed the theme tune to the The Zoo TV Series. The popular programme takes viewers behind the scenes at Dublin Zoo following the dedicated men and women who take care of the 600 plus exotic animals who live there.
With 39 episodes broadcast to date, The Zoo has become a favourite with audiences across the generations.

Viewers not only get up close and personal with the many beautiful, exotic and often critically endangered animals in the zoo, but also join the keepers on the journey of taking care of them; from day to day life and animal husbandry to the excitement of births, deaths and unexpected emergencies.

Over the last four years, Giles' carefully crafted score for The Zoo has mirrored the highs and the lows of life in the Zoo. It has echoed the tension lived by zoo keepers as they make difficult decisions about a sick animals, accompanied a penguin chick as she takes her first swim, and brought tears of joy with the birth of a baby rhino.

Each 7th and 8th Grade class of mine was given the assignment of creating an original song. Students studied song form and performed other songs in the genre they were writing in (Hip Hop/R&B)to prepare. Each class then voted on a topic of their choosing to write about. Students then split into groups of two to write their verses. Upon completion, the class helped me to write a beat for their song. We then recorded their verses, added a chorus, added an ad-lib track, and then mixed the songs. This is the first time students at this school have attempted a project like this and I am very proud of their results. Please listen, share, download, and enjoy!
