"Le rythme cardiaque, c'est avant tout une question d'influx électrique", comme l'explique le Dr Aurélien Wauters, chef de clinique de cardiologie à la clinique Saint-Pierre, d'Ottignies. "Ce sont en effet des impulsions électriques qui commandent la contraction des cellules de notre muscle cardiaque".
Les grande pathologies liées aux troubles du rythme portent comme noms la bradycardie (quand le cœur est trop lent) et la tachycardie lorsque il bat trop rapidement.

Les symptômes liés aux troubles du rythme sont multiple. "Cela peut aller de la simple fatigue à la syncope, voire dans les cas les plus extrêmes, jusqu'à la mort subite", détaille le rythmologue. Quels sont les bons réflexes à avoir dans une telle situation? "Surtout ne pas rester les bras croisés et ne rien faire", dit le spécialiste. "Il faut passer à l'action, et tout de suite"!
