"The Love Machine" by The Lovedolls is a song from the soundtrack to the film 'Lovedolls Superstar' on SST Records (1986).  The song is a collaboration between the band SWA and 'Lovedolls' actress Jennifer Schwartz, who sand lead vocals on the track; the song was written by her brother Jordan Schwartz (also one of the producers of the film) along with SWA's Chuck Dukowski and Black Flag's Greg Ginn. 

The band SWA were primarily active from 1985-1991 during which they released 5 albums on the SST Records label.  They were formed by ex-Black Flag bassist Chuck Dukowski who brought together Greg Cameron (drums), Richard Ford (guitar), Ray Cooper (guitar) and Merrill Ward (vocals).  Of this line up, Dukowski, Ford & Cameron were involved with the recording of "The Love Machine" along with keyboardist Paul Roessler who had been a veteran of many early L.A. punk rock bands like The Screamers and 45 Grave and also a member of Brews Springstien alongside Jennifer Schwartz' brother Jordan, who sang back-up & co-wrote this song.

Directed by former Sin 34 drummer Dave Markey, 'Lovedolls Superstar' was the sequel to his film 'Desperate Teenage Lovedolls' which had become somewhat of a cult-classic after it's original release in 1984. For the sequel, most of the original cast members return (including members of Redd Kross including Jeff & Steve McDonald, as well as former drummer Janet Housden and guitarist Tracy Lea) and with a slight budget increase the quality of the cinematography and narrative structure greatly benefits the film. Besides this track the soundtrack also features songs by Black Flag ("Kicking 'n Sticking"), Sonic Youth ("Hallowed Be Thy Name"), Meat Puppets ("No Values") and Dead Kennedys ("One-Way Ticket To Pluto").
