This mix is a love letter to the influences I've picked up during my time in Denver. While I had a lot of history in raving before moving here in 2015, this city has taught me so much about music and mixing and the true underground, I felt the need to acknowledge it. 

I respect the history and progression of this community immensely. As a nod to Denver's many music scenes, this is a multi-genre mix that spans from 68bpm-140bpm with downtempo, leftfield, techno, house, breaks, and more. Recorded through both live digital and vinyl mixing on Audio Technica's and a Traktor S8 to combine the past and present eras. At the end of the day, it’s about putting tracks together right?

Also, In case anybody was wondering, this mix quite embodies why I chose my moniker. It's based on a novelist who specializes in the blending of worlds once thought never imaginable, but that exist beyond our peripheries none the less. Hope you enjoy this little showcase.

A City Of Sounds Mix Part 1

Cenobyte got his start in the Los Angeles club scene in 2012, transitioning from the crowd to interviewing DJ's and reviewing shows in the city under his House of Acid Reviews website. From there he began doing professional artist spotlights across the northeast, working with acts like Norm Talley, 4mplify, Ichisan, and being published with the Eskimo Recordings label. 

Finally making his way into Denver's underground, he immediately found himself working with crews like Sorted, CoClubs, Invisible City, Nocturnal, Gloom, and Mother Earth Sound System. Since then he's hit the decks and has been playing events alongside some of the best talent in the city; from iconic locals to international acts like Daniel Avery. 

The name Cenobyte is inspired from novelist Clive Barker; a man who specializes in peeling back the safe veneer of society and exposing the otherworldly. More importantly, a true ambassador for the things that go bump in the night. The oddly oppressed, and the strange. Whether Cenobyte is weaving through progressive belters, hypnotic blends of techno and house, or curating dark fantastical themes like the novelists he adores, you can always count on a journey through the unknown. A story each it’s own.
