Topics and Guests: On April 4—on the anniversary of the assassination of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr—Black Alliance for Peace (BAP) launched a collective campaign for a Zone of Peace in Our Americas with organizations throughout the region in Washington, D.C.; Havana, Cuba; and Port-au-Prince, Haiti.  Today AfricaNow! features a portion of the press conference launching the Zone of Peace campaign, which took place in Washington, DC at the Institute for Policy Studies.  The panelists were: Ajamu Baraka, Jemima Pierre, Nina Macapinlac and Margaret Kimberley.  The moderator was Julie Varughese. He is the founder and publisher of Third World Press. The song is written about a dialogue between a son and his father who cannot explain the brutality of humanity and the destructive craziness of war. „Time For Peace“ is published as an acoustic song (Vocals & Acoustic Guitar) and takes the listeners into the pure, authentic and heart-touching song-world of Christoph CALiM.

“Written six months before the start of the war in Ukraine, this song may be more relevant today than ever. I would love to say it’s the other way around: Feel free to call me a dreamer, but I am uncompromising for peace around the world. War has been tormenting us as humanity for far too long. Too long time we humans are acting in such a destructive way and so we are a constant threat to ourselves and to our only living space, the Earth. But, there is this power of change, so now it's time for peace, no time for war. It's time to heal, no time for war! It's time to ... change”, says Calim.

The title comes from a poem by Mohammed El-Kurd whose voice you hear on my track, reciting not his own poem however but that of Rashid Hussein (d.1977) first in Arabic and then in El-Kurd's translation. Thanks to Mohammed El-Kurd and the Palestine Festival of Literature who faced great obstacles in finding venues for their conferences and readings since October 7.
