What a transcendent night this was! So much connection, so much love, so much courage, so much power. We had such vibrant community tonight in the tiny little town of Cobourg, and I feel so very blessed to have been here, at this moment in time, with this group of people...to have had the privilege of curating a journey for them for the collective creation of a sacred, permissive space. I had designed this dance with the intention to make room for the courage to feel ALL the feelings of what is happening in our world and in our lives. My heartfelt gratitude to all who were present or present in spirit.

"The Courage to Feel." Live at Ecstatic Dance Cobourg, Jan 17 2025

Tonight we experimented with themes of hibernation: what is it like for us humans, living in mammalian bodies that want to hibernate, to survive in today's world, in which we are expected to function similarly through all the seasons? How can we play with allowing ourselves stillness and hibernation while also beginning to move ourselves toward the light with gentleness and patience? And what about hibernation as metaphor? What about the ways we may force certain unwanted emotions (anger, especially, as tonight's peak song is entitled "Fuck you!") into hibernation, and can we give those feelings the freedom to come out?
We began in slowness, allowing time to peek out of our underground cave…and then we got wild!
Many songs in tonight's mix have meaning. The first is an opening prayer, setting the stage to enact our longing for more beauty in our lives; the second, "Sano," sets the intention to heal. We move into "Um Sorriso Infinito" - infinite smile...an intention to be optimistic in the face of gloom. And then	"Cabras No Elevado Quilombola" translates to “Goats in the High Quilombolas.” To me, it brings me to a place far away in the mountains, feeling the wind on my skin and walking with goats…walking, slowly marching, beginning to wake up out of my torpor.
"Levitate" and "Soul Sacrifice" lift us up..."Echoes of Dance" helps us to find our voices..."The Kinda Love" feels like riding a wave...and then "Fuck Off," well, that's self-explanatory! We assert ourselves. We feel our anger. And out of that we move toward acceptance "You've Got To Let Go If You Want To Be Free," release, permission to feel ("Control") and love ("Mohabbat").

Tonight we arrived in chaos and we departed feeling more whole. I feel such gratitude toward our community, the dance, the music, the artists, and everyone upon whose shoulders we stand.

Summer2025

An ecstatic dance designed for the exploration of trust and courage, which also re-creates the near-death experience. I knew that the incredible people who come to our Ecstatic Dance Cobourg events could handle this one. We journeyed into the depths today...and they stayed with it, with such creativity and wholeheartedness. When we dove into the eye of the storm - chimes and silence, amidst drumming - people stayed with it, open-minded, willing to explore. It was beautiful, as the DJ, to witness and be part of this. I am so very grateful to our community.

I am grateful to my teacher, #TASHA BLANK, for two sets of hers that inspired me to try the chimes in a segment of the journey that is usually wild and chaotic.

Psyrob is a project from near Cologne, one of the strongholds for electronic dance music.

Crafting Sonic Journeys with an Open Heart.

Robin Bauer, known as Psyrob, has been an integral part of the Goa scene since 2012, deeply captivated by the spirit of love and community found at its events. Initially, his focus was exclusively on Goa Trance subgenres until 2018, meticulously honing his mixing skills within this specific realm.
From 2018 onwards, Psyrob embarked on a journey of musical exploration, embracing an open-ended style that transcends specific genres. His ambition is to craft profound musical journeys and deliver messages that resonate directly with the listener's heart.
A significant spiritual turning point at the end of 2019 continues to profoundly influence his artistic expression. Psyrob wholeheartedly embraces the technological advancements of the Aquarian Age, channeling his creative energy into his music with the aim of connecting with a broader audience.
Currently, Psyrob is dedicating his talents to downtempo projects. He excels at creating live mash-ups, seamlessly blending diverse genres without limitation. His ultimate goal with each mix is to convey meaningful messages and storys, engaging directly with both the conscious and subconscious minds of his listeners.

He is, without a doubt, one of the djs who most contributed to the evolution of the dance scene in Portugal.
Beside him, were names like Underworld, Danny Tenaglia, Roger Sanchez, Dj Vibe, Deep Dish, François K, Carl Cox, Jeff Mills, Dave Clark, Groove Armada, among many others.
But more than the names, was and it is his work that stands out before everyone.
Beginning his career in the 1980s with residency at the Plateau (Official) and progression to the mythical "Alcântara Mar", he ended up, give life to the first album to be recorded by a club in Portugal: “The House of Rhythm”.

It was with this record that he achieved what was never achieved before, the first gold record in national electronic music.
In addition, there are numerous milestones associated with different projects, such as Delicado, Crystal Symphony, LL Project and DarkMountainGroup, a co-project with Alex Santos and whose first single, “Lose Control”, reached the number 1 from British DJ Magazine.
When in the mid-90s the first volume of the series of mixed compilations of the mythical Alcântara-Mar club was launched, Luís Leite was already a strong name in our club scene and a pioneer of dance music in Portugal. With a great impact of the compilation and his entry in the first place of the sales tops, Luís becomes part of one, at the time still small, group of DJs coming from the underground who managed to enter the Portuguese mainstream without compromising his music. It was 1996 and the pirate cassettes of the "Alcântara" CDs changed hands in schools and on the streets in large numbers, as if they belonged to Nirvana or Guns & Roses. Teenagers pissed off their parents to wear rings, shave their hair and blow their allowance up in Jimmy Doyle boots like ravers did.
With a mix of American hard house, b-sides of European trance, some English techno and new national production, Luís Leite built the monster that would become the sound of "Alcântara-Mar": naked, fast, oscillating between clubby exuberance and industrial austerity - with an undeniable crossover potential. Also with his production he created some of the greatest classics in our dance music; everyone who grew up in the 90's recognizes "Khine #3" when they hear it, and "Work In Progress" is not only one of the best moments at Kaos Records but it still retains an elegance that makes it modern. In collaboration with Alex S (Urban Dreams) he gave us the Delicado project in the early 2000s, where he exchanged electronic hardness for jazzy influences. Later,  also with Alex, he created one of the biggest international hits of the house of his time with the project Darkmountaingroup, released under the label Buzzin 'Fly by Ben Watt (Everything But The Girl). His dedication and genius ear are only comparable to his humility and work of spirit, typical of a time when DJs were just employees.
From then on, invitations to record mixed cds hadn’t stopped.
