Prior to this, Renée Aguiar-Lucander was the European Group Head and Managing Director at a global investment bank and has more than 12 years’ experience in corporate finance. Prior to her career in investment banking, she was the Head of European Sales and Marketing in a company focused on the sale of software for financial services.

Renée took up BA in Finance from Stockholm School of Economics and finished her MBA from INSEAD.

openAI backs new drug discovery startup. A new player has entered the pharmaceutical field! OpenAI has joined forces with Thrive Capital to back Chai Discovery, a startup that aims to accelerate drug development using AI. Founded by former researchers from OpenAI and Meta, Chai Discovery has developed an AI model capable of predicting molecular structures and is claimed to outperform Google DeepMind’s AlphaFold in certain tests. The company also plans to make its first model free for non-commercial use, which could significantly impact medical research.

box AI puts an API in front of your documents. The productivity platform Box has rolled out an API designed to extract metadata from your files. This tool promises to boost data insights, making it easier for users to find relevant information and streamline their workflow. It’s a simple yet effective addition for those who often handle large amounts of documents.

AI generates ideas better than humans. In a recent study, researchers found that AIs produce more novel ideas than humans in the field of natural language processing, although the feasibility of these ideas is somewhat lacking. Over one hundred researchers evaluated both AI-generated and human-generated ideas without knowing their origins. They noted that while AI ideas were seen as more innovative, they did face challenges when it came to diversity and self-evaluation.

Greg began family practice in 1999, after having had meaningful careers as a both a Pastor and Pharmaceutical Drug Rep. For Greg, medicine combines two of his passions: lifelong learning and serving people. He believes that medicine is best practiced as a team. "If I sit down, look the patient in their eyes, listen to them and ask the proper questions, the patient will help lead me to the correct diagnosis."

Greg enlisted a small team of other professionals to help him flesh out his vision. After a diligent search, the current location was selected for renovation. Throughout the  process, Greg has made a concerted effort to insure everyone, from the General Contractors and sub-contractors, to providers and other professionals, feels a  part of the Compassion Family Medicine team—part of something much greater than the mere sum-total of the parts.

Eric Elenko, PhD, is the president at PureTech where he has led the development of a number of programs, including three that have received US FDA approvals (EndeavorRx, Plenity and Cobenfy).
