I don't sleep well and/or I don't sleep a lot.  Grief and pain have a tendency to creep into my thoughts as I start to wind down from the day, and it's at that moment, I don't want to "hear", or to relive, my most recent memories.  If I can remain awake, my mind doesn't travel off to the land of reality and force me to imprint the daily memories of my child's new world...

A lot of people want to forget about their troubled past, let go of bad memories, or never relive something so horrible that a purge from the subconscious is necessary.  However, I want the past.  I want to remember when my children were healthy, smiling, vibrant, and strong...you see, "it's not the past I'm trying to forget".
