"An intense relationship with sound and a drive to share energy through music was the reason G Spice got into djing.He started spinning in the early 90s performing at raves, festivals and clubs around Greece, influenced by the acid house revolution.

The years that followed found him maintaining residency at "D.N.A" and "Groove box" club as well as performing with international djs like Alex Neri, Antoine Clamaran, Quiver and Matthias Heilbronn.

Night Swim w/ mermaids

Night Swim is my club-focused mix show with an emphasis on tech and jackin' house. It's meant for pre-gaming before a big night or keeping the vibe going on the way to the afters.

mermaids is the deep/lofi house alter ego of Manila-born, Singapore-based DJ and producer Joey Santos. The project specializes in creating music that occupies the sweet spot between home listening and dancefloor energy – what the artist describes as "energetic-yet-soothing vibes suitable for both introspective moments and communal celebration.” 

Drawing deep inspiration from Chicago and Detroit house pioneers, mermaids cites Kerri Chandler, Moodyman, and Joe Claussell as foundational influences. This reverence for house music's roots, combined with modern deep house production techniques creates a sound that feels both nostalgic and contemporary. The project emerged in 2020 with the pandemic-documenting "Flat Curver," followed by "Work From Home Is Where The Heart Is" and 2021's "Lockdown Anniversary." Each release has demonstrated mermaids' ability to capture specific moments in time while creating music with lasting emotional resonance. 

Joey Santos brings over two decades of experience as both a DJ and music producer, contributing to Manila's vibrant indie rock, pop, and electronic music scenes while building international connections through the mermaids project.

The context of traditional African writing within the space of modern contemporary and experimental music. My native language is quite an old one, and like with most languages, over time it has modernized by combining or taking from influences surrounding it no different than how the English language itself has changed overtime from the Shakespearen approach of writing and speech to how we speak today. The music I make however is written in the oldest form of my home language, the same way that our oldest texts such as the first educational materials we ever published as a clan as well as our very first translation of the bible which dates back to when the first missionaries arrived in our country. There is something that is a lot more poetic and authentic about the original form of the music which has actually simplified my writing because the very nature of the language is art which is why I chose not to enduldge in the modern context of the language and its newer slangs. 

The show would be mostly based on how this pride in heritage found within the music I have been making over the span of more than 20 albums is helping preserve the language in the same way that the stories Macbeth wrote have preserved a much purer and poetic older version of the English language. Within this show I will be exploring my writing approach to different themes using songs I have written under those very same themes as examples and showing how the undiluted ad oldest form of the language helps me to deep dive even further than how the modern version of the Tshivenda language would have limited me in attempting to do so.

My love for speaking about what inspires the unique music I make was sparked and enhanced around the COVID era as that is when I had my first guest shows with Worldwide FM, Noods Radio and more recently Black Rhino Radio. Seeing how well these went inspired me to take speaking about my home language within the modern music context more seriously. I feel as if in all the time I have been speaking about it  I at this very moment in time have an even better understanding of it than I did when I began and along the way as I was growing.
