Home of my own mixes - from eclectic sample-digging, breaks and hip-hop through to techno/electronica and plenty of jungle/dnb/hardcore/160, old and new. Essentially, whatever I'm feeling. 

Pre-2001, all mixes vinyl; Post-2016, all mixes digital (DJay 2); Post-2018, all mixes sequenced. Why? 
I've got an old skool DJ's mentality, early influences ranging from Sublove, Ratty, Randall & Hype to Coldcut, DJ Juice, MK & Primo.  In the early 00s I turned my back on D&B, retired my turntables in favour of family/work commitments, and got into funk, soul, reggae and so on... a lot of this driven by curiosity around the sample roots of hardcore and jungle.  Forward another decade and an early mid-life crisis saw me messing around with virtual decks on my phone, and later acquiring a vinyl ripper, with one vision in mind: making mixes.
Although I'm partial to the odd DJay or vinyl mix when I get the chance, the progression into sequencing was a simple means to an end.  My ideas stretch further than the limitations of my physical collection and real-time mixing, and by sequencing I can pick, choose, chip away and structure mixes at my leisure. Which I do... a lot :)

Wait, there's more ... my page also hosts an absolute stack of classic golden era/old skool hip-hop/turntablism, jungle and d&b, hardcore, techno and house mixes retrieved from my dusty tape & CD archives.  This includes (by my reckoning) the most exhaustive collections of classic Full Cycle and Sublove Galaxy Radio shows, live Ruffneck Ting jungle tapes, loads of studio & compilation mixes, all manner of rave tapes, and so on.

Hjärngymnastik is a cratedigger project which aims to dig up and play electronic music released prior to the year 2000.  Styles such as Detroit Techno, IDM, Acid, Electro, Ambient, Bleep, Breakbeat, Jungle, New Beat, Deep House and many neighbouring styles will be heard in these sets.

Each sunday I'll be posting an hour of my selections. Some episodes will include guest mixes from excellent contributors - DJs, producers, record collectors and music enthusiasts. Within the same episode, the guest mix will be heard first followed by mine. A random drawing of brains conducting some kind of suspicious activity will of course accompany the set.

Let me know if you'd be interested in participating. There's always room for guests who can contribute with knowledge and interesting selections.

Aitor Astiz was born in Pamplona (Spain) in 1997 and he started into the music world at the age of 7 years old playing the violin and learning about music lenguaje. But only started his career in music electronic in 2012 with only 15 years old. 

Inspired by progressive house, tech house & house sounds. Since he started into the electronic music world Aitor Astiz´s sound has not stopped evolving and growing during his short career. Influenced by artists like Sidney Charles, Loco Dice, Wade, Hector Couto, Wheats, Jamie Jones or Ben Sterling, nowadays his particular production style with powerful basslines, hot drum grooves, hip hop vocals and old school scraps, gave him the oportunity to release tracks in huge lablels like Roush, ISSUES, Be One Records, or COCOA. Reaching the highest positions of the best seller tracks in these record labels. 
His creativity in the studio have taken his works to the best clubs and festivals of the world being played by artists like Michael Bibi, The Martinez Brothers, Marco Carola, Loco Dice, Jamie Jones, Paco Osuna, Cloonee, PAWSA, Wade, Wheats, Eddy M, Dennis Cruz, Blackchild and many more. 

Also, his dynamic dj sets with a lot of tech house & house grooves mixed with acappellas from different styles, gave Aitor Astiz the oportunity to play in the best clubs & festivals from the northem Spain such as, Dalí, Totem, Ozone, Event, Txuribeltz or Carpa Universitaria festival helped him to develop a reputation that will be the foundation for many year to come. In summary, Aitor Astiz is a clear example that talent & youth can do hand in hand.
