Her poem "For Colored Girls Who Don't Need Katy Perry when Missy Elliott is Enough" went viral, earning praise from Missy Elliott herself. Ashlee is also the host of Moderne Philosophy, an educational podcast for creatives.

Ashlee founded Philosophy Media Group to elevate Southern voices, particularly creatives of color, in media production. Her company specializes in storytelling across podcasts, interviews, and documentaries, with Ashlee leading as the primary voice talent, copywriter, and producer. Ashlee's journey began at age ten, and by fifteen, she was performing regularly at public competitions. She's competed in National Poetry Slams and now, as a full-time artist, continues to tell the stories that often go unheard.

A lone figure sits by a flickering campfire on a quiet hilltop, their eyes gazing upwards at the endless stars.  
The air is still, filled with the soft rustling of the grass and the distant hoot of an owl.  
A delicate, contemplative melody begins to play—a blend of soft piano and gentle strings, each note like a carefully chosen word in a poem, echoing through the stillness of the night.

The music is serene and evocative, with each piano key struck like a soft sigh, each string a brushstroke of emotion on the canvas of silence.  
The melody flows like a gentle stream, winding its way through the landscape of the heart, capturing moments of introspection and the beauty found in the simplicity of existence.

This 2 hour happened in London on a Saturday afternoon. It was an exploration of the soul, a deep dive into the realms of sound and emotion. The energy in the space was palpable. Together, we danced through layers of consciousness, weaving the energies of ancient traditions with contemporary expressions. The collective experience was within sacred ritual.

Two souls caught in shadows beneath this city sky.
Feet heavy, hearts numb, tired of playing it safe,
Stuck in routines that won’t let us escape.
We’re cracked, we’re scarred, each bearing our weight,
But maybe together, we could create.

They say there’s time, they say to wait,
But how long can a heart bear the weight?
A hundred questions, a hundred fears,
Counting out our lives in half-spent years.

Look at them talk, they come and go,
With words that dance in ways we’ll never know.
They see us and whisper, “How lost they seem,”
Caught up in visions that fade like a dream.
But what if you and I, broken and bare,
Stepped into the unknown, felt open air?

Do I dare break the rules, risk what’s true?
And would you dare if I dared too?
Two voices lost, but stronger paired,

I feel time move, you feel it too,
Walking these streets, it’s just me and you.
You sense the ticking, the silent pace,
Life slipping past, an unwinnable race.
Measured out in small steps, that endless grind,
Moments once bright, now left behind.

Speak the truths that we both conceal.

A fresh breath, a soul reborn.

Think of arms that might hold, of perfume close,
Of words not spoken, of what matters most.

I'm Gavin Sakae McLean, defining for myself what it means to put out what you want the world to be and living honestly with my heart outside of my chest because I might not know any better ;). My life has been a tapestry woven from the relentless pursuit of that elusive call, leading me through a myriad of experiences that have both challenged and shaped me. With a foundation in performing arts from Cornish College of the Arts and a master's in computer science from National University, my journey is anything but ordinary. Currently on the path to a teaching certificate and eventually a PhD, I aspire to merge the worlds of art, education, and technology into a harmonious symphony.

Once a voice behind the characters in video games like "Antihero" and "Halo," and a recognized talent on the Seattle stage with an acting award to my name, I've lived many lives in one. My expertise in stage combat, voice, and speech has allowed me to tell stories through motion, emotion, and sound, crafting narratives that resonate and captivate.

I am a poet, storyteller, educator, and manuscript coach with an MFA in Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts. With over 20 years of experience, I’ve taught workshops on writing, creativity, and public speaking worldwide, drawing from a background that includes memorizing 600+ poems and performing poetic storytelling globally.

My latest book, 100 Days: A Poetic Memoir After Cancer, was published by 3: A Taos Press in May 2023. I’ve also co-authored How to Read for an Audience and Write What You Don’t Know: Ten Steps to Writing with Confidence, Energy, and Flow. Through The Imaginative Storm Writing Project, co-created with Allegra Huston, I guide writers to unlock their creativity and craft impactful, dynamic work.
