Poing (Preview)

Alto sax, soprano sax, bass, classical guitar, percussion, accordion, computer / live electronics. Commissioned by POING-FEED with funds from the Norwegian Cultural Council.

A collector's chest holds many small compartments within which are organised all kinds of treasures: from a child's stones, shells, dead insects, leaves or trinkets, to priceless type-specimens or collections from world voyages. In this composition, treasures are collected from recordings of the Norwegian ensemble POING-FEED's interpretation of composed musical ideas. These are then transformed and organised as 'type specimens' in a collector's chest of sounds. The music assembles in performance: improvisation meets notation and acousmatic sound, and a multitude of compartments are opened to let sound escape into the air.

A Collector's Chest was commissioned by POING-FEED with support from the Norwegian Cultural Council.

I still had the original Cubase disks in my archive, so I took the original Roland TR-909 drummachine, an Akai S-950 sampler and the Atari ST to the Rockstar Recordings Studio in Belgium and re-recorded, remixed and remastered this track. I used their Solid State Logic 4048 G+ mixing console, which at the time of the original "POING" recording, was the most high-end console around. 

I re-did this whole thing because it frees me from my old recording contracts with Rotterdam Records. I currently own this master, contact me for licensing.

have to take the next step and started learning all about production in 2007. Veak is in high demand for his Dj sets all over Europe from 
his home town of Reims to the massive dnb movement in Germany. Veak is regularly booked for his high energy Dj sets fed by a lot of his own productions. 
His style is accross DnB / jump up / jungle and roller which he has perfected both in the studio and on the decks over the years.

Veak has shared been on the line up along side names such as Teddy Killerz / Annix / Hamilton / Blocke4d / Phace / Supreme Being / Inside Info just to name a few.

Maurice Steenbergen is a platinum-awarded producer/multi-instrumentalist from The Netherlands. He would sign to the esteemed Rotterdam Records at just nineteen-years-old and soon gained a name for himself for sampling random craziness into his records. By the early 90s, he would top European charts with records like “Poing,” which was one of the main songs that brought a harder style to dance music and “galvanized a Dutch dance industry that flourishes to this day” (L.A. Weekly). He soon found his way into the underground scenes in major cities like NYC and Tokyo before ceasing his career during its peak to focus on producing music videos and docuseries. Nowadays he mainly produces crazy creative beats as a hobby.
