In this episode, we interview Amanda Willet, a doctoral candidate at Penn State University studying glaciology and researching the Thwaites glacier in West Antarctica. Amanda shares her journey into studying glaciers, the numerous research projects she has conducted, and her experience being deployed to Antarctica and Greenland for months at a time. Amanda also praises the incredible individuals who work behind the scenes in order to make research in polar climates possible.

The real reasons Endurance sank—study finds Shackleton knew of ship's shortcomings.  When I was younger, my fascination with ancient ships turns out to be hereditary.  My ancestors were ships captains, whalers and carpenters on these great seafaring exploring vessels!
