COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy are once again thrust into the international spotlight. But this time, it's because a computer error caused an 18-second delay that's keeping Julian Araujo in between clubs.

On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira discuss all the Galaxy news that has made this week more entertaining than it should have been. And to make it even better, Alex Ruiz from The Striker joins the guys to talk training and dish about what plans the Galaxy have for signing some players. 

The guys will start with the Araujo situation. It would almost be funny if it didn't have the future aspirations of an up-and-coming youngster on the line. Will Araujo be allowed to go to Barcelona? And when will FIFA make its decision? Alex gives us all the updates from training and why almost everything the Galaxy are doing is in a holding pattern. 

The guys will also talk about AppleTV, and Josh will give his opinion on the new streaming service. There are some misses to the MLS Season Pass, but will it be a competent addition to your streaming services?

Josh and Eric will also talk about MLS getting another hefty valuation from Forbes and why you probably can't trust it. 

And finally, the Galaxy have a Ponzi scheme connection that would make for a compelling movie. And no, it's not that Ponzi scheme.

Julian Araujo is in limbo, the LA Galaxy have to wait to replace him, and a Ponzi scheme?

The arrest of Bernie Madoff in 2008 once again brought the term “Ponzi” into our everyday lexicon. The term is named after Charles Ponzi, an Italian-born financier who would pay investors wildly generous returns without generating any profits from the investment, using money received from new investors. Essentially, he pocketed his clients’ money without investing it for them.

The Madoff scandal hit especially close to home for the Jewish community not only because he is Jewish, but also because of his philanthropic involvement in many worthy Jewish institutions and charities.

But should these charities keep the donations they received from Madoff? Or should they be legally or morally obligated to return the money to the defrauded Madoff clients?

We explore these fascinating questions in the light of Talmudic discourse and Jewish law in our second session of Headlines.

Headlines - Lesson 2 - Charitable Ponzi Schemes

Just about everyone who works in the New York art world knows Lisa Schiff, an art advisor to the rich and famous who worked with celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio for many years. She was a highly visible presence at art fairs, on museum boards, and generally around town, running her glamorous boutique firm from a first floor gallery space in Tribeca whose entry wall was covered with a memorable floor to ceiling plant installation.

So media savvy that she had a PR firm on retainer, Schiff was frequently quoted as an expert in the art press, and she had longstanding relationships with journalists in town, including here at Artnet News, where she even wrote an op-ed last summer on the scourge of "meme art." That's why it came as such a shock to a lot of us this past May when a lawsuit dropped accusing her of essentially using her advisory firm to run a pretty extravagant Ponzi scheme.

So what exactly happened with Lisa Schiff? What is she accused of doing, and where do things stand today? This week, Artnet News's ace market reporter Eileen Kinsella dives into the saga.

In an interview with Kerry Lutz, financial expert Dennis Tubbergen discussed the current state of the economy. Tubbergen believes that the economy is artificially inflated due to government spending and that without this spending, the US would be in a severe recession. He also suggested that the current economic situation is akin to a Ponzi scheme, with the government borrowing money to increase cash flow at the expense of future GDP. Tubbergen predicts a stagflationary environment, with a decline in the value of assets and increased inflation in consumer items. He recommends investing in precious metals and assets without counterparty risk that cannot be printed.
