METALATOR pertama dibentuk oleh DEFRY PRIMA (Deptrianda Tanjung) sebagai Vocals&Guitars pada tanggal 19 September 1993 dimasa
berdirinya sebuah organisasi independen Komunitas  Musisi Rock Sumatera Selatan bernama GONG SRIWIJAYA.
Sayangnya pada masa itu mereka lahir di era ketika industri musik negeri yang tak pernah menanggapi musik rock sebagai bagian lahan bisnis serius.

Meski pernah beberapa kali demo mereka ditolak beberapa produser rekaman Jakarta, mereka sepakat memilih jalur Televisi dan Radio untuk mempromosikan demo karya mereka, salah satunya adalah 
TVRI Stasiun Palembang, Radio MOMEA FM Palembang dan Radio MUSTANG Jakarta.
Setelah mereka diluar Palembang sempat sukses tampil perdana di Kota Bandar Lampung dan di Pantai Marina Ancol Jakarta pada tahun 1995, band ini
mengalami pergantian formasi hingga akhirnya memilih untuk vakum beberapa lama.

Setelah total hijrah ke Tanah Jawa, DEFRY PRIMA mencoba mengaktifkan kembali METALATOR Band dengan formasi baru.
Salah satunya adalah memilih BAY GUITARO selain Violist juga seorang Gitaris muda dan menjadi player tamu Band asal USA, REOG.
BAY sendiri lebih cenderung memilih jalur solo gitaris bersama beberapa musisi dan artis penyanyi ternama.
Selanjutnya adalah ELDUIS NEIL seorang Bassist cewek eks ZEFF Band (Jakarta) dan sebagai player pada Band PDSI Pertamina Jakarta.
Dan terakhir DEFRY memilih DIKA ROMADANI sebagai Drummer yang pernah aktif pada TAMBARMALM Band dan EVANT GITARA (Jakarta).

DEFRY PRIMA kemudian me-Remake beberapa karya lamanya dengan komposisi baru dan mengikuti perkembangan genre musik kekinian dengan memanfaatkan 35% teknologi AI.

METALATOR "Duel Sang Jagoan" adalah resmi Album Perdana yang mereka rilis pada akhir tahun 2024 dan sekarang sedang mempersiapkan untuk merancang album Kedua dan Ketiga.
Langkah terakhir selanjutnya adalah mencari promotor musik untuk tour Live METALATOR 2025-2026.
