Impressionistic music existing outside of the verse-chorus-verse structures of a three-minute pop song that expand and blur the boundaries between shoegaze, gothic, ambient, folk, and electronica.

mayfairgrin has existed in various forms for the past 20 years. a mainstay to the underground, the project has released numerous albums. many of which are freely available on-line through popular netlabels. the project is primarily Andrew Farris; whom writes, records, programs, executes, and performs most of what's heard on each of mayfairgrin's compositions. the music is expansive and melancholy -- teetering somewhere between the depressed and the sanguine. 

Artists like Hammock, Tim Hecker, God Speed You Black Emperor, and Boards Of Canada served as equal inspiration and helped refine the emotional goals of the music itself. mayfairgrin has since received airplay on various college/indie radio stations across the US and in Europe, numerous remixes, club play, and received critical praise for mayfairgrin's unique and hard-to-define sound. Farris has worked with such artists as Julie Straw (PinkLogik), T Nathan Roane (formally of Vehemence Realized), film-maker/performance artist: Fabian Rush (Synthetic Nightmare), Joshua Sierk (Lunelac), Jason Coffman (Anaphylaxis), and NY-based spoken word poet: B. Lamont. the music of mayfairgrin has been remixed by artists such as Wormsign, Autovoice, Cryogen Second, PinkLogik, Anaphylaxis, and Cyberchump to name just a few.

The Soft Stars is a band from the Oakland/San Francisco bay area, California. Guitarist is currently working on a classical music album

Golda's awesome singing has been described as a mix between Siouxsie Sioux and Poly Styrene from the X-Ray Spex  with her own bold style. Golda and has been in lots of bands including DeathGlam and Golda and the Guns. 

Bassist and pianist Naomi plays classical piano and has played in experimental and punk bands such as Andy Human and the Reptoids, Echo of Bullets, Botskurd, The Next, and Sound Police. 

Drummer Kirk has played in bands such as powerviolence/hardcore band Malicious Dismemberment.  

Guitarist Stephen has played in a bunch of solo projects and bands that never escaped the practice studio such as Swiit Ashiikii (with members of Boyjazz, the Mae-Shi, and Pegataur).

The Soft Stars love music such as Siouxsie and the Banshees, Unwound, Drive Like Jehu, Sonic Youth, the Stranglers, Killing Joke, Captain Beefheart, Spike in Vain, Wire, Joy Division, Live Skull, Swervedriver, Neil Young, My Bloody Valentine, MX-80 Sound, the Minutemen, James Brown, Josef K, Bauhaus, Hugh Mundell, etc.
