The Ballad of the Expat is a poignant collection of four tracks that narrate my journey as a dad and as an expat, capturing the essence of cultural transitions, being away from home, and the universal emotions that connect us all.

Written, recorded, and mixed by myself in my home studio named "Up at the second floor studio", and mastered by the incredible and talented Danilo Rossi,  I hope this album will take you in an immersive and captivating listening experience.

I made most of these while living with my Grandma at her house shortly after my Grandaddy went backstage. It was just us in a gigantic, ranch-style house. It was cozy because they'd lived there so long, but there was a lot of space. I got to play a grand piano everyday and be basically be as loud as I wanted (when my grandma wasn't there). A year ago I moved out, she met a dude and is living her best life. I love that place and I'm grateful I got so spend so much time with my Grandma.

Lazriel Fontaine is a London-based composer and avant-garde sound designer whose music drifts between cinematic orchestration and experimental electronics. Born in Hannover, Germany, while his father was stationed abroad, Lazriel spent much of his later life moving across the world — a journey that shaped the diverse textures and emotional range of his work.
His compositions draw inspiration from artists such as Ludovico Einaudi, Two Steps from Hell, Dexter Britain, and the nostalgic pulse of 80s synthwave, blending them into pieces that are both hauntingly intimate and grandly expansive.
Fontaine’s music often explores the tension between structure and improvisation, weaving together influences from classical minimalism, film scoring, and modern sound design. Each piece feels like a landscape — shifting, atmospheric, and deeply tied to memory and movement.
Though eclectic in style, his work remains united by a search for resonance: music that lingers, unsettles, and uplifts.
