Desiderat is an international Berlin-based instrumental progressive metal band. It was initially founded in 2018 by both guitarists. The music combines heavy riffs using motives from various genres of metal with melancholic melodies and atmospheric interludes. The influences of their members’ different cultural and musical backgrounds are manifested in the songs, making them diverse and suspenseful. Each song tells another personal story resulting in a unique structural and emotional development for the song.

Desiderat is an international Berlin-based instrumental progressive metal band.
The music combines heavy riffs using motives from various genres of metal with melancholic melodies and atmospheric interludes.
Each song tells another personal story resulting in a unique structural and emotional development for the song.

The wealth of information from the outside we have to face daily, and the subsequent decisions shape our consciosness and cause actions. Therefore I consider these aspects in my music.

The band was conceived in 2019 by Benoit Serret (bass) and Clément Réviriego (guitar and
production). They were later joined in the studio by Clément Denys on drums and Flavien Morel on
keyboards and arrangements, to work on their debut album, The Dark Playground, which was
released on April 19, 2021.

In early 2022, the band began working with Thomas Hilaire (drums) and decided to include several
guest musicians. They were joined once again by the brass section already present on the first
album (Emilie Klipfel on saxophone, Olivier Viseux on trombone and Nicolas Renard on trumpet),
and also by a long list of singers (Yann Ligner from Klone, to name but one) as well as saxophonist
Cyril Prevost.
The band signed a contract with the label Wormholedeath and released two tracks in December
2022 ("Silver Tree" and "Dearest Wind"), but we'll have to wait until April 19th, 2024 to discover
the full album, entitled Lunaison!
