Jeremy Savory: Internationalization, 2nd Passports, & Becoming Sovereign #548

This podcast discusses the First-Tier Tribunal (Tax Chamber) in the United Kingdom regarding an appeal by Raymond Charles Eyre and Diana Eyre against the Commissioners for His Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC). The case concerns whether the Eyres' purchase, redevelopment, and sale of a property at Burnsall Street, Chelsea, constituted an adventure in the nature of a trade for income tax purposes, or if it was their principal private residence (PPR) for capital gains tax purposes. The Tribunal examined the Eyres' intentions at the time of purchase, the extent of their personal involvement in the property's development and personalization, and considered arguments based on the "badges of trade". Ultimately, the Tribunal found that the transaction was not a trading venture and that Burnsall Street was their main residence for a period, thus allowing their appeal.
