In the midst of the first Covid lockdown in the UK, I had borrowed a few synthesizers from a friend. Since we were stuck in the house, Katherine and I took the opportunity to put together a synth arrangement of the 7th movement of Gyorgy Ligeti's Musica Ricercata.

FEUER DER JUSTIZ Single Release

Feuer der Justiz ist die erste Single Veröffentlichung des Weltsein Mini-Albums "Hyperobjects", welches im April 2022 fallen gelassen wird. Das Album "Hyperobjects" bearbeitet über sechs Songs ein breites Spektrum an Sounds, Fragen und Stimmungen.

Der Prozess mit ersten Skizzen hat im April 2020 angefangen, ging über das Schreiben, Aufnehmen, Mixen, das erste Konzert und schlussendlich das Mastering im Januar 2022 etwas länger als 20 Monate. Deshalb freut es mich sehr, dass das Projekt nun veröffentlicht wird.

Für das Album habe ich insbesondere mit dem DSI Prophet 6, dem Analog Rytm, meinem Gesang, einem schönen Federhall, der Fender Stratocaster E-Gitarre mit einem Orange Combo Amp und meinem Gesang gearbeitet. Das Album ist so konzipiert, dass ich es solo live spielen kann.

A track made with an Octatrack using 808 samples. Synths are Elektron Digitone Keys and a Sequential Prophet 6. 

Effects are TC Electronic DVR 250 Reverb, TC 1210 Spatial Expander, FabFilter Volcano 3, Timeless 3. UAD Studer A800. 

Mixed in Analog with my Solid State Logic System and captured in 192khz with a Tascam Digital Recorder. 

Mastered in Wavelab Pro using Weiss EQ and Limiter with Softube Tape.

Colin Broom is a composer based in Glasgow, Scotland. He studied Composition at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama.

He has composed music for numerous ensembles and musicians including Maxwell Quartet, Icebreaker, Orchestra of Opera North, Ensemble Thing, Red Note, Tyrolean Ensemble for Contemporary Music and South Bank Gamelan. His music has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3, Radio Scotland, Radio Magnetic and Radio Icebreaker.

He teaches Composition at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
