Originally released in 1981 and then re-recorded in 1986 then used on the film of the same title "Pretty in Pink" starring Molly Ringwold.
This can be found on the "Talk Talk Talk" album.

Life's Misfortune - Heartbreak Beat (less broken)

“Hello, It’s Me” was first recorded in 1968 by the psychedelic rock group Nazz, penned by the band’s then 20-year-old frontman Todd Rundgren. The song wouldn’t become an international hit until it was reworked years later for the album Something/Anything. But commercial success was never the point of Todd Rundgren’s own work. While he would go on to produce acclaimed albums for Sparks, Meat Loaf, Patti Smith, Psychedelic Furs and XTC, his solo releases evolved into increasingly avant-garde soundscapes. It is this uncompromising ethos that made Todd Rundgren an artist’s artist, whose technological wizardry was capable of harnessing both critical and commercial success – when he felt like it.

The Ghost In You

My Fault is a song influenced by early new wave, post punk, and goth. With nods to The Cure, New Order / Joy Division, and the Psychedelic furs, the track's mid tempo danceable rhythm and layered hooks and melodies continue to deliver after multiple listens. Self-reflecting lyrics explore ideas of alienation, self-blame, and social anxiety.

Featuring tones from electronic drums, a Perkons drum machine, Fender bass vi, moog synths, electric guitar, string synthesizer, and ambient effects-laden vocals, the sonics of the track don't disappoint.

If you're a fan of 80s and 90s electronic fueled alternative rock, you're gonna love this track. Enjoy!

My Fault

This is an instrumental cover of Pretty in Pink I recorded years ago, back when my old band thought we could sneak a New Wave anthem into our mostly garage-punk-shoegaze setlist and make it work. We never actually played it live—something about the tempo always felt like it belonged to a different kind of heartbreak than we were used to performing. Still, I held onto this version. It sounds like 2 a.m. in someone else’s kitchen, the party long since over, with cheap strings of fairy lights still on and no one bothering to turn off the amp. It’s less about nostalgia and more about that fleeting moment where you thought reinvention was still possible—before the morning came and reminded you otherwise.

80's Gen X New Waver Mobile Disco/Club Spinner in High School & College; Silicon Valley CA Product Engineering Executive/Solid State Drive Geek; Spent most of my allowances on extended, remixes and hard to find esoteric 12" dance vinyl records, used to frequent record stores in SF Bay Area (Amoeba, Rasputins, Tower, Record Factory, Star, etc.) on weekends and after class.  Still love to visit record stores & dig through bins of used records when i go on business trips. Recorded 100's of mixed tapes for classmates/friends and hours & hours in front of the turntables. Starfinder is a project by musician Ian Galloway, a member of several past and present punk, garage, and indie rock bands (including garage rock band Porno Mags whose self-released debut album peaked at  number 47 on CMJ in 2014).

Having loved New Wave, Synthpop, and Goth bands such as New Order, The Cure, Pet Shop Boys, Joy Division, Psychedelic Furs, and Depeche Mode since his early teens, Ian decided to focus on electronic music production and writing in his spare time away from playing in bands.
