Eight years in and over 50 albums deep, several members of The Jazz Jousters collective are still game to take on our sample challenges and test themselves. On this occasion allow us to present 'Sidenote: Pulling Strings'. 

The concept behind this one was based on the Jousters being challenged to sample any string based instrument. We could have gone for one or another, but the idea was to keep it open to a range of stringed instruments for a more varied sound. Caught a very small glimpse of sunshine a few weeks back in Hackney and knocked up a little edit in anticipation of longer days and lighter nights,

A really beautiful track from the amazing China Crisis that I've merely given a club friendly touch up. Open air warm ups and sunset soaked terraces pending - this ones a handy little tool to have in your back pocket.

As is the norm all the proceeds from any sales will be going to charity, and this one will be raising money for United Help Ukraine.

Rather than talk your ear off all night, Pulling Strings are back with their sophomore release, a carefully honed trio of all-engulfing dancefloor meditations.

Kicking things off is Cape Town’s own Biodive, who delivers Red Eclipse – an exemplary balance of rumbling warehouse breaks and warm, enveloping synths.

Returning to the northern hemisphere, Johnny Flowers picks things up with M3 To Infinity, a more urgent offering that flits between ‘Headz era bass effects and the emotive atmospherics that Pulling Strings delight in providing.

Finally, the puppet master Herald Walk returns with Come Closer, another distinctive club cut peppered with sonic bon mots and peak time conversation starters.

All proceeds will be donated to the Voices of Children Foundation in Ukraine - a charity dedicated to providing psychological and psychosocial care for children affected by the consequences of conflict.

Pirated samples coupled with a lick of hands in the air euphoria - this is the kind of sound that's echoed with me since the early days of cutting my teeth and discovering the dancefloor.

It's a nod to my dance partners along the way, from the warm ups in our bedrooms to the clubs all over.

Millennium Jazz Music is an independent label and service provider based in London and home to talent from various parts of the globe including the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, the United States and Ukraine.

MJM was formed by Gadget in 2003 with the main focus of providing production and sound engineering for up and coming artists and producers, as well as providing workshops for young people. Although the first releases date back to 2003, MJM became dedicated to project management and releasing new material from 2008 up to the present date.

Now with an eclectic roster of talented musicians and wordsmiths, Millennium Jazz Music is focused on releasing more material of various styles as we continue to add to our already large archive.
