Love is an emotional capacity without boundaries. It is the inherent beauty of life and light, flowing from within our body and mind. The alchemy of intimacy and devotion helps us to ascend from darkness, filling our soul with a clear radiant energy. Like a beaming star, our compassion and affection heal us by releasing our trauma in katharsis.

The compilation “No Limits, All Love” is the 12th release of katharsis, celebrating our first anniversary with 10 poignant tracks from artists novel to the label. With the title as a thematic starting point and additional references of gratitude, healing and growth, the contributing artists were invited to interpret their experiences of kathartic purgation and salvation through music.

To commence the compilation, the Egyptian Ma3azef-affiliated artist ABADIR engages us with his spellbinding track “Clearance”, before the British sound-designer Phrixus gets our bodies moving to his wonky “Unintentional Alchemy”. Debuting local Danish artist Bloszum takes the pace down again with the hypnotizing piano-infused hymn, “Beauty Is Only Crystal Deep”, followed by the daybreaking floater “Flamma” by Uruguayan artist Balas De Agua.

Subsequently, French producer Zero Crossing Point delivers a stellar spectrum of emotion on “Our Ascension” ahead of the sentimental receptacle of heartbreak on the track “Vesper” by French artist Awbluu. The energy dives deep into the trancelike state of our subliminal mind on Nexcyia’s “wrapped(up)”, as danish duo J Sliwa, consisting of label founder jjjacob and his partner in crime Lighyer, shoots for the stars with celestial cannons on the track “Light Is Within”. The compilation culminates in climax on the motivational rave-anthem “Don’t Be Sad” by the Swedish YEAR0001-affiliated duo Quit Life, before Santebela closes the album with grandiose piano phrases bathed in reverb on “save me”.

The 23rd release of katharsis is the collaborative album “Brutal Nature” by label founder jjjacob and various other artists. The idea of the project, which has been in progress for several years, was to extend the artistry to a more conversational form than the classic introverted style of the electronic music composer. The album shaped itself through several exchanges of ideas and stems between jjjacob and the numerous artists of the project.

The final product of the collaborations has a common theme of finding solace in the darkness and brutality of nature. This could be exemplified by the deep melancholy infused with an inner peace of losing a loved one in the mourning song “Threnody” with Hajj, or in the overcoming and healing of both internal and external wounds by the catharsis of music and art on the eloquent track “Trauma” with Bungalovv and Odete. As an introduction to the album, jjjacob and the local Beham created an auditory interpretation of self-blame with movie samples and abrasive low-end explosions, and to conclude it jjjacob and Slikback created the bass-heavy club lullaby “Bonum Nocte”.

The album follows jjjacob's previous two EPs on katharsis from last year, “Journey Before Destination” and “Internal Presence”, but it is his first full-length album since “Body Without Organs” released on the Spanish label Sweat Taste in 2020. The album artwork is a collaboration between jjjacob and Emil Stephensen, with the main motive being a painting by the latter.

This is a purification mantra of five elements, which are Namka, Long, Chu, Me, Sa, respectively space, wind, water, fire and earth elements... it is also noun as the rainbow shower. May all who hear it maintain a peaceful moment.

The 38th release of katharsis and our final release of 2023 is the prodigious compilation "Embracing Darkness, Absorbing Light" featuring a vast array of artist beloved by the label. Throughout the grandiose line-up of the 36 tracks, the listener is absorbed by various differing interpretations of the theme outlined in the title of the album. Some of the invited artist went full into introverted progressions and meditative sounds, while others focused on aggressive rhythms or anthemic melodies. But even though the styles and techniques of the songs differ from each other, the artists seem to have some commonality in their sonic palettes that binds it all together in a mutual love for music as a healing force of nature <3

More than 3 years ago a friend of mine from Holland introduced me to the music of Deva Premal. Her mantras and way of chanting with Miten and their flutist Manose playing over it gave me the thrills while hearing it. I decided to go to a show of them and after the show I introduced myself to them. Their energy on and off stage is very calming and peaceful in my opinion and I had a really nice chat with them. I asked Deva if I could make a rework of one of their tracks and after making it I sent it to her....long story short.....the result is here.Thanks to Deva to give me the opportunity to release this. A new year, a new decade. For me, I felt a strong desire for cleaning, cleaning my studio, cleaning my travelbag which I use soooo often and is with me more than half of the year. Cleaning my kitchen, getting rid of the toxic, non PFOA-free frying pan. A new start of a cleaner me. Being closer to purity. And it feels good, very good. I don’t need a lot of material, the material I want is my studio gear, a nice mattress to sleep on and nice healthy cooking gear with natural produce and ingredients. And so there is less distraction around me so I can focus in a more clean way on music and spending time with my loved ones. With that in mind I made this new podcast. Enjoy the ride and hope to see you somewhere on this planet in 2020 or another time this decade. Smile and be kind, love and feel loved, sounds to me as a good start of every day.

Amsterdam based SWACQ is a multi talented Artist, DJ/Producer and Influencer, who injects his love and inspiration into any genre he finds interesting. From melodic pop, future bass and clubby bass house to hard-hitting festival anthems, this man does it all in a remarkably catchy way. 

After years of perfecting his skills in the studios, he has taken the dance scene by storm. Obviously you’ve already heard his groundbreaking and heavily supported 2019 tracks the anthem "Party Time" with Tiësto and one of his personal favorites "No Strings Attached". 

His signature string of remixes for Martin Garrix, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, J. Balvin, Gucci Mane, Bazzi, Steve Aoki, Trey Songz and The Black Eyed Peas gained a lot of traction and support from other DJ's.  This attention is boosting his fanbase, which is growing fast on the socials.  

World class acts like The Black Eyed Peas and The Backstreet Boys use SWACQ produced tracks in their live shows. As a DJ, SWACQ performed live on tours spreading his magic around Europe, Asia and the USA. You even might have seen him on TV!

Currently 2020 is proving to be a vigorous year for SWACQ. He released originals on labels like STMPD, "Side 2 Side" with Blinders, the infectious "Horny Horns" and vital energetic sound of "POW!" on Musical Freedom. He also created remixes for Steve Aoki ft Felix Jahn’s "Inside Out" on Ultra Music/Dim Mak, Joe Stone & Four Of Diamonds "Superstar” on Spinnin' and Jonas Blue & Paloma Faith’s "Mistakes” on Virgin UK, to mention just a few.

While the world was in Covid19 Lockdown, the fun-loving SWACQ kept his social distance by locking himself up in his home studio, enjoying art and working safely from a distance in collaborations with world class acts Tiësto, Will.I.Am, Timmy Trumpet, Don Diablo and Willy William. Expect those spectacular releases in the near future.

When not creating his sounds, SWACQ finds a lot of inspiration through art, design and fashion. At the moment he is very much into KAWS and Jean Michel Basquiat.

You are bound to hear a lot more from this energetic and unique DJ/producer because SWACQ has merely scratched the surface of his unbound inspiration. He keeps developing his playful sound in new edges and - spoiler alert - is working on some vocal projects. Don’t just expect SWACQ to surprise your ears and brain as of early 2021. Be prepared!
