I went to the museum and heard a really cool recording of Tuareg traditional folk music dedicated to the camels that the Tuareg people would perform. As a matter of instinct as a beatmaker, I had to sample it. So I recorded that sample, took it home, and eventually made this beat.

I would personally love it if I could get Q-Tip, Open Mike Eagle, and Phonte on this beat. Particularly Q-Tip because this feels the most like a Tribe Called Quest, honestly.

Coming through with the February episode of our radio series featuring Ayanna Heaven from Brooklyn, NY. Ayanna spent her childhood in her native St. Mary, Jamaica in the golden age of Jamaican dancehall of the 1990s, followed by ten years in Atlanta, Georgia at the apex of Southern hip-hop. With sets ranging from Roots and Rocksteady Reggae, to Afrobeats, Hip Hop, Dancehall, and Funk, she brings a passion and the cachet of a diverse background to her DJ aesthetic. She moved to New York City in 2010 to pursue studies in Ethnomusicology at The New School. She is also hosting a monthly show named "Sounds of Heaven" on The Lot Radio, which is also the reason where I found out about her.
