ramen's about the feeling when you’re at the pub or a social gathering, surrounded by people you don’t know very well or perhaps don’t feel yourself around, and there’s lots of conversation going on around you but none of it feels real or that genuine, and you’re feeling a bit anxious and not so good about yourself, and all you’re thinking is ‘when is it fine to leave?’

For me in this particular situation, I kept drifting in and out of conversations but all I could really think of was getting home and cooking a fckn good ramen, spending some time on my own, having the rest of the evening in - the title is meant to be a little bit playful, but the story is real and one I’ve felt many times

Noodle Nation started as a challenge from my teenage daughter. She told me, completely straight-faced, to write her a song… about noodles. I asked why noodles, and she just pointed at the bowl of Buldak ramen she was inhaling at the time.

Our family lived in Japan for five years, and noodles became a little piece of home for all of us. Ramen, udon, soba, pho, linguine. If it can be slurped, dipped, twisted, or spun, we’ve probably made it a family ritual at some point. So when she said “bonus points for mentioning Buldak, different kinds of noodles, and all the ways you can eat them- soup, dry, dipping,” the challenge suddenly felt even more fun. Seeing that she collects K-pop albums I figured it was only fitting to try and weave in the k-pop bounce and vibe to the challenge. 

This is the outcome, all Noods are welcome!
