Just a quick something I did, using one of my friend's newest beats. Did the whole song on my gaming laptop initially, but didn't like how it sounded, so I re-recorded it on my personal laptop.

Wrong Kind Of Right

This song expresses my feelings about my life, how I have made many mistakes and how life has simply decided to take me into difficult situations and dark places. Now, I have a long track record as a rebel. Not a specific cause rebel, more of the “I’m doing it my way no matter what” kind of a rebel. I’ve done things I should not have done. I’ve taken risks I should not have taken. I’ve made mistakes that I wish I could take back!

Over time, many things have worked out and many have not. However, when the cancer hit me in 2018 is when I knew for certain that being Out of Luck was most definitely the State I was in! My cancer experience was incredibly expensive. It took 3 months of multiple tests, imaging, probing and prodigy multiple times every week before the specific type of cancer I had was determined - which had to occur BEFORE I received treatment!

During this time I lost the majority of all my physical and mental function (I was on a walker for almost 2 years). The medical costs completely wiped us out. House… gone. Retirement savings - gone. Ability to work to earn more money - gone.

I was out of luck and stuck there, with pretty much nothing I could do about it. So to capture some of that experience I came up with the song using an off-the-cuff style of writing to express these things in a humorous way. That’s how I deal with extreme difficulties. Make ‘em humorous. Take as much sting out as you can but still tell the story. That is what this song is all about.


Out of Luck is the State I'm In

Silver Vein Revival blends modern outlaw country with southern rock soul, twangy, gritty, and unapologetically real. I’m a singer-songwriter rock music addict. My style is my own interpretation of the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s hard rock and metal I have always loved. I’ve been writing my entire life (not music) but I now use that experience to craft compelling lyrics. 

My songs play host to anger, pain, fear, resentment, rejection, change, challenge, hope, love, tolerance and understanding - the dominant themes in my life. I write about what I have experienced, observed and dared to dream.

My journey has been everything but normal. I started learning guitar at the age of 62 after stage 4 bone cancer completely rearranged my life and my reality. It broke me very badly (13 fractures, open back surgery) physically and mentally. It’s taken years to get back to a decent place with function.  Music has been (and still is) an essential part of my survival and recovery. When cancer first hit, my family got me an acoustic guitar. I started learning open chords. As I healed I played more, eventually improving. I started writing my own music.

Now look at me! I write music, produce music, and perform locally both solo and as a band. Oh, how I love playing my music! It motivates and inspires me! Music has been the guiding light leading me through the darkness. It has helped fill the void left from the devastation of the cancer, the surgeries and other complications. 

I love what I do! But it is also my hope that you enjoy my songs too. I sure hope you do!
