My recording of Once Upon a Dream, a beautiful song from Disney’s Sleeping Beauty by S. Fain and J. Lawrence. I played it as a duet with a soprano and a tenor recorder.

Did you know that its haunting melody is adapted from one of the themes of the famous Sleeping Beauty Waltz by P.I. Tchaikovsky? I can only recommend that you listen to it if you haven’t already, it's really beautiful.

My recording of The Fairie Round, a lovely dance by Anthony Holborne, an English composer from the Renaissance.

I played it on a sopranino recorder, and the music sheet is from Sarah Jeffery's music book My favorite melodies for treble recorder.

You can find it in the book 25 Studies for treble recorder by Hans P. Keuning. It's a good book to practice articulations, rhythmes and fingerings for intermediate recorder players.

This track uses the Soprano Recorder (from the new Audio Modeling SWAM VariFlute app) and is played by me using GeoShred.

I’m a big fan of recorder music, a much maligned instrument in my opinion.
As well as the late lamented David Munrow, Richard Harvey was my favourite player of the 1970’s.
Known now for his film and tv music, he was better known in the 70’s as being a member of the ‘medieval’ rock group Gryphon and being a virtuoso recorder player. His LP ‘Divisions on a Ground’ from 1975 was on my turntable a lot.
I stumbled across a YouTube video version of the LP a few weeks ago and it prompted me to have a go at playing one of the pieces, something I would never have even imagined a few years ago.
So with the availability of the SWAM Variflute and a lot time trying to work out what he was playing, here is my attempt at the second piece on the LP, Variations From "Der Gooden Fluyt Hemel" (by Paulus Matthysz , published 1644)
Actually it’s only about a half of his version and played at a lot less than a half of the speed he plays it at 😊
