This is a victory for me. It's a recovery from an injury, a recording with new mics on my new piano with a completely new action (still being tweaked, the dampers are still not adjusted right). 

Pure improvisation, listening and reacting to the sound of the new instrument. I deeply love the sound of this instrument. I'm thankful that Larry Villella talked me into buying his ADK Lollies, as they sound wonderful. 

this first recording was done with a matched pair of ADK Lolly mics, into an Apollo into MOTU's Digital Performer (DP). A little hall reverb was added, tiny adjustment to panning, and nothing else, no eq no other processing. I'd love to hear what you think. I'm just happy to play again. I cried, it's true.

(For those who don't know- A month ago I sliced my LH thumb really bad, needed stitches, was pretty deep. The wound got infected because the stitches were taken out wrong, reopening it, and caused a much longer recovery. This happened TWO DAYS after I had just gotten the new action put in to the Mason & Hamlin BB. Needless to say a pretty deep depression ensued. But not any more ❤️).

Real. Raw. Emotion. That’s what this album is about. I wanted to tell my story through music. I have arranged the tracks in an order that does so. Hi, My Name is Justin is the introduction. A Foreshadow. Expressions is where I start to take the audience to the dark side. Novocaine and P&V are my “rock bottom” songs. They *could* go in either order. However, I used the call and response from the hook in Novocaine and the sample in P&V to make my final decision. This is where the “story” ends. Came A Long Way is my effort to tell the audience how far I have come since that story. The story takes place within a 5 year period. I am 5 years removed from the majority of my stories/experiences.  I wanted to tell people that I’ve been ok so far.
