Daniel Loord: A Unique Artistic Journey

Daniel Loord, also known at one time by the pseudonym Dan Exo, whose real name is Daniel Vedjo Ousseni, was born on October 8. A composer, arranger of electronic music, and sound engineer, he stands out for his rich and eclectic journey.

Childhood and Musical Influences

From a very young age, Daniel Loord developed an innate passion for music. As a child, he spent hours listening to his father's collection of vinyl records and stereo cassettes. This immersion in a wide range of musical genres, from disco to makossa, including funk, ragga, reggae, French variety, soul, R&B, rap, and jazz, profoundly influenced his artistic development. In high school, he was already nicknamed "DJ," foreshadowing his future career.

Career Beginnings in Cameroon

It was in Cameroon that Daniel Loord took his first steps into the music world, DJing at numerous parties and celebrations, especially weddings. In 2005, he founded the label Hell and Hope Recordz with friends and released his first hip-hop album, Eclat 2 Boomer, under the pseudonym Dan Exo. This album, marked by collaborations with several rappers, laid the foundations for his career in rap and hip-hop. In 2009, he followed up with a second rap album, Daniel Loord Kick Snare, created in collaboration with about twenty rappers.

Exploration of New Sounds and Musical Learning

In the early 2010s, Daniel Loord decided to explore new musical horizons, turning towards pop and electro. Eager to deepen his knowledge, he taught himself music theory and piano. This endeavor allowed him to enrich his compositions and develop a more personal and diversified style.

Settling in France and Solo Career

In 2018, Daniel Loord moved to France. Two years later, in 2020, he released his first solo single, Make Me Crazy Remix. This track was followed by a series of singles: When You Come Back Remix, Story, The Way, Can't Stop, More Bounce, and Sleep Paralysis.

Latest Albums and Musical Style

In 2023, Daniel Loord unveiled his new EP, Sleep Paralysis, a collection of three songs exploring the electro EDM, pop, progressive, and house genres. These tracks were inspired by a sleep paralysis experience the artist had a few years earlier. In 2024, he will release his EP Hybrid, an opus blending various musical styles, including house music, trap, afrobeat, bass house, and lyrical singing.
