Euan Fryer - Skipper at Athens of the North has been collecting and DJing rare soul, funk & disco for over 30 years. Known in the scene for his scottish club in the late 90s/early 200s called Motherfunk, which was strictly soul and funk45sm, much loved, and always chock-full. His collecting, djing and knowledge lead him to running labels for Jazzman Records in Camden for 11 years. After this he started the much-respected Athens of the North label around 10 years ago which has gone from strength to strength, moving from not only rare soul and Funk releases, but new music as well.  

"This mix is a taste of my favourite releases from the label and also a preview of things to come in the next year or so."

21 years after it's original release, I've repressed "From Chicago With Love" along with a new fourth track called "Murmurs Low", partnering with the extremely talented Jimmy Tripp. This new record has been cut by Lawrie Dunster at Curve Pusher and comes in 8 different color sleeves. I wasn't going to repress this record if we didn't do it right, and I think we've done it justice. The release date for "From Chicago With Love Reprise" is February 28th, 2025. I hope ya'll still feel the music. ❤️

Mazi Namvar, more widely known by his pseudonym Audio Soul Project, is a notable figure in the house music genre, with a career rooted in the dynamic cultural landscape of Chicago. Since embarking on his musical journey in 1994, Namvar has made significant contributions to the world of electronic music, both as a producer and as a DJ.

Namvar, or Audio Soul Project, is not simply a musician but a steward of house music’s rich tradition and an inspiration to both his contemporaries and aspiring artists. His career is a testament to the enduring power and creativity inherent in the music that he represents.
