A retrospective look - what we imagine the future sounded like to the people of a bygone era. Created using 60s and 70s era technology to aid in the creation of an authentic retrospective future; Roland Tr77 drum machine, Ferrograph Series 5 tape machine, Watkins Copicat IC400 tape delay, vintage analogue synths (Roland Juno 60, Roland JX3P, Moog Minimoog Model D, Yamaha DX7), vintage Fender Stratocaster and Mustang Bass.

The majority of this track was created with samples from iPhone recordings I took my of cousins kid playing with his toy drum set. I wanted to challenge myself to see if I could make a track only using the recordings I took, Version 1 was written that afternoon. The different voices that can be heard is my family talking in the background. I was content with how the first version sounded and the chill vibe it had but wanted to add a little extra for the release version. This was also the first track that I was able to rough master on my own then play out in a live setting.

For the most part Top Floor was a track that I had completed almost two years ago. It was the first track that I wrote after releasing Lunar in 2021. After bringing the project back up I made a few changes to the mix and removed some elements from certain places until I felt like I was happy with it. One of the main focuses for me on this track was to create and preserve as much depth as possible given my current skillset. Really allowing all of the elements to be heard in their space and move trough their places in the stereo field as intended.  Glad to finally have this one out.

Top Floor

The original idea of this track was created in about 2minutes as part of a challenge lesson. From idea to completion, This is the quickest I have ever finished a track. Continuing to use resampled vocals and hip hop / trap style drums while experimenting with higher energy leads, heavier subs and multiple basses as I move deeper towards/into the Wave genre production styles.

i had a lot to do today, so this track is sort of a cheat. i made it in a day on the last day of February. I had a lot of homework to do so i consider this to be ok, but I'm sorry if i have disappointed you. also the sample is from Jonwayne's Rap Album 2
