The Solstice Song and its video were written, recorded and animated within a month during November and December 2022. With the incredibly talented help of vocalist Phoebe Shepherd, our producer Mick Armistead and Tom Hilton at ABRecords, we managed to get it released in time for the winter solstice.

Last year’s video got a better response than we could have ever imagined, so we thought we’d give it a wider release on streaming services for 2023, and have put together a new video to celebrate. Check it out on YouTube - we hope it helps you get a little bit merry this holiday season!

Since forming in 2014, The Room Upstairs have grown into album-era hanger-on-ers. They decorate themselves in retro-tinged melodies and folk-rock lyricisms: musing on mortality; nostalgia; the passage of time; and emotional life crises, be it quarter, mid, or just general "ran-out-of-milk" stuff. That said, they also wrote this biography themselves, so maybe have a listen and debate the likelihood of bias.
