Group Modular breaks the 3-year silence and launches a new series of 7inch releases, powered by Confused Machines and Delights labels. The first title features two familiar tunes, previously available only on short-run (and immediately sold-out) lathe-cut 45s.

"The Tunnel", taken from the 2021 Norman Records' 25th Anniversary split release by Polytechnic Youth, was the duo's first recording since finishing their sophomore album "Time Masters". With its repetitive patterns and slow hypnotic build-up, the track hints at the territory, further explored on Group Modular's Delights double-sider "Per Aspera Ad Astra" a year later.

"Lonely Pylon" was recorded exclusively for the third instalment in Russian Library's "L series" of split 7'' EP's, exploring themes of nature. It finds Mule Driver and Markey Funk departing from the drum-centric sound towards atmospheric soundscapes and hypnagogic patterns. While 2022's "Per Aspera Ad Astra" wrapped a decade of space exploration, "Lonely Pylon" finds the duo discovering the otherworldly in the day-to-day life back on Planet Earth.

This song is a journey through time — standing at the very end of the last carriage, where the rattling steel meets the weight of memory. You look back, and the Nordbahn whispers its secrets:

The first steam, 1841 — iron shaking the ground, Vienna drawing closer, twenty-five kilometers an hour that felt like eternity.
The last warmth of 1914 — soldiers leaving home, bandaged faces, silent fields holding their breath as the war rolls in.
And then… the dark trains. Locked doors. Nameless suitcases. A silence too heavy for words. The rails know everything — but they never speak.

And still, the Nordbahn carries us forward. Through dust, through time, through stories etched deep into steel. Every vibration hums with voices of the past — their fears, their hopes, their goodbyes — tangled in the summer air, stirred only by the passing train.

DJ MIX #2 - Celeste's Room 👽

Olivier Noël, aka "n o x V Λ n d e r s", is a Franco-Cameroonian DJ and producer who has explored various musical genres since the 90s. He took his first steps in Switzerland, in Basel, under the name "Blackangel", where he made crowds vibrate during wild raves, particularly in abandoned factories of the Swiss food company "Le Bell."

In the 2000s, he moved towards more accessible sounds, exploring electro house under the alias "DJ Coolfun", not hesitating to flirt with what he himself calls "commercial soup." Three of his sets from that time can still be heard on SoundCloud (@dj-coolfun) and on edeejay.com (www.edeejay.com/profile-125718/video/).

But it was in 2012 that he fully immersed himself in the depths of progressive trance, refining his approach to mesmerizing sounds.

In 2015, Olivier made a radical shift towards drumstep under the alias "Skyloox" and dubstep by changing his alias to "OnBass 1978", mastering powerful drops and shattering rhythms. During this period, he left an indelible mark in Lorraine, mixing for various events and radio stations, including the iconic Radio-Déclic FM in Moselle. His explosive sets from that time can still be listened to on Mixcloud (www.mixcloud.com/OnBass/).

Always seeking evolution, Olivier returned to trance in 2020 under the alias "Oliver Chrisma5" (www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFzQr9gGdFQ), before diving headfirst, in 2024, into the retro-futuristic sounds of Synthwave, Vaporwave, and Chillwave.

Today, under the identity of "n o x V Λ n d e r s", he explores linear and mesmerizing soundscapes, blending melodies that are sometimes dark, sometimes bright. While respecting the unique codes of Synthwave, he allows himself to venture into other genres, notably dub and electro, while staying true to his vaporous and melodious atmospheres. Each production is an invitation to travel through time and space, a true musical journey back to the future.

His inspirations draw from the work of artists such as Daft Punk, Skrillex, Tiesto, Deadmau5, DJ Snake, Seven Lions, and Kavinsky. Additionally, he draws from pioneers of electronic music like Tangerine Dream, Jean-Michel Jarre, and Vangelis, as well as modern Synthwave and Vaporwave artists such as The Midnight, Mitch Murder, Timecop1983, and Com Truise.

Delights: way-out treats for psych+funk lovers.

I create seamless fusions of just about everything. All visceral, atmospheric and psychedelic with hidden depths upon closer inspection. The flow is also important. It exists on a continuum with micro-variations and subtle evolutions along the way.
The music can range from low down heavy darkness to softer and more positive, higher-vibrational new age. Yet even at it’s most crushing and industrial never succumbing to nihilism and instead feeling warm and inviting.
Very often humorous (in the form of deliberate cinematic pastiches), freaky and surreal. Inspired by dystopian sci-fi. Retro-futuristic.
I often wear my influences on my sleeve like Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream but at my core I’m still self-referential with my sound. It operates at my own personal frequency.

A creative vehicle for experimenting with audio and exploring the boundaries of the sonic spectrum. Extreme analog and digital manipulation and sound integration. Various forms of synthesis. Improvisation and live stream-of-conscious recordings. A never-ending and ever-evolving artistic and spiritual venture.
