After being hunted to the point of extinction for almost 400 years, beavers are now widely recognised as nature’s architects, and Derek passionately believes they are a key to ecological recovery. Their dams help us to filter water, stop run-off and reduce flooding! They also help build much needed habitat for a range of wetland wildlife.

This week Asher invites an old friend, Eva Angaphora, an ancestral skills enthusiast and creator of Wild Beings onto the show to chat about the importance of connecting to nature and how necessary it is for our overall wellbeing, including practical ways to do this. 

Eva shares with us about her own personal journey of re-connecting to the land and how it has transformed her life for the better. This journey led her to create Wild Beings, a foundation that runs programs which share skills and practices that re-connect us to nature. They focus on ancestral skills, bushcraft, nature connection and living more self-sufficiently with the land, where the core intention of the gatherings are to create a culture around land-based living and re-connecting people with their wild roots. 
Workshops and programs are run at Ouirimbah, Laguna, Holgate and more.

Climate Stories Project (CSP) is an educational and artistic forum for sharing personal stories about the effects of climate change on our lives and communities. CSP focuses on personal oral histories, which bring an immediacy to the sometimes abstract nature of climate change communication. Some of us may recount dramatic events such as floods and wildfires, or we may address our observations of changes in seasonal patterns and our fears for the future of our families and communities. We may discuss how climate change is forcing our communities to adapt to extreme weather and sea level rise. Or we may speak about how we are getting involved in the movement to fight the fossil fuel industry through community organizing or nonviolent protest.There is no "right" way to talk about climate change, as it is a vast topic that is increasingly touching every corner of our lives. CSP also facilitates educational workshops where students learn to speak about their own responses to climate change and interview guest speakers about theirs. In addition, some climate stories are featured in music and soundscape projects that allow audiences to witness the effects of climate change in a novel way.
