Reuploading this one after some mastering changes.  I guess I have a thing for making the drums too loud without realizing it.  Anyway... this came primarily from goofing around with my sister at the grocery store, and then mashing it up with a bassline I think I heard in a dream.  Radio samples from the program "Wavescan" which I happened to catch on the airwaves, apparently on New Year's.

*What’s your name and where are you based?
My name is Max Volume and I am based on the east side of Berlin.

*Since when has music played an active role in your life and how did you actually end up at the decks?
Both my parents are DJs. We always had loads of vinyl in the house, but I only started once my dad had a program on his computer that you could mix with. I was attracted to the technology — that’s what got me started with a MIDI controller.

*Can you describe what gives you the biggest joy when playing music in front of a crowd?
When I see strangers exchanging moves. I love how dance floors bring everyone together.

*How did you get in touch with the spheres of bass music?
I started with acid house and 4/4, and then I was just interested in new rhythm structures and new tempos. I enjoy the dynamic switching between them all.

*What is your biggest motivational habit to push yourself in moments when you feel insecure / imposter syndrome is kicking in (before a gig or when producing music)?
Parties and acid music have saved my life, so I need to go out there and give it back to the people.

*Maybe not everybody knows, but you are not just DJing. You are also producing sick music, and with the Kollage Kollectiv you’re doing incredible installations and performances in different places. What keeps you inspired? What keeps your flame and your vision burning?
Kollage Kollectiv keeps my flame going! We are lucky to have this incredible cultural paradise in the center of Berlin. Art and music have the power to transform division into unity. The collective process and getting together is the best weapon we have: art and music.

Our new mix series rooted in the deep, diverse and ever-evolving world of bass music.
We invite DJs and producers from across Berlin and beyond – showcasing a wide range of styles through the realms of riddim and also giving a tiny insight into the people behind the mix. 

The heart of the project: diversity in sound and unity in the love for low frequencies and juicy basslines. This series wants to bring together lovers of bass music. Driven by the desire to contribute something to the community and enjoying the textures, flavours and colours that these spheres have to offer.  It shall become a place to explore, experiment, play what you always wanted to play, but never dared to - or share your new bangers out of the jewelbox. You create the vibe! Lets enjoy a broad palette of sounds and vibes and colours.

As the representation of gender behind the decks is still very unbalanced, we want to focus on a more gender-balanced selection of guests within our series (going 50/50 flinta/male).
