My first original tune in almost 10 years. I wanted to do something different, something with more of a live feel rather than my normal acoustic tunes. Still needs lots of polish but I'm pleased with it so far.

Time goes by (Where did you go?)

Mixed the tracks down a bit before adding vocals and mastering.  Brought out the synths and rhythm guitar.  Layered the kick drum is well to give it a fuller sound.

The Exile Lounge are Grant and Dan. I think it was late after a dinner party that we dusted off our acoustic guitars and played a few covers for each other. That turned into late night sessions playing mostly obscure songs from artists such as The Avett Brothers, Ween, Bruce Springsteen and Roddy Frame. Years passed. Then Grant said we needed to write our own songs. Dan built a home studio and bought a hollow body jazz guitar. The songs spend time in the space between isolation and connection. We've kept everything raw. In a world of electronic sounds and pristine production, our songs are intimate with a bit of the mystery of jazz. Everything is recorded live in the basement lounge with no edits or overdubs.
