In the era of MC’s and hot-steppers, rave shades and sportswear on the dance floor, Episode 9 of Parental Guidance is the epitome of Rhythm Pumping!

Scrolling through texts, links, DM’s and Emails I am nostalgic: It feels like just yesterday, I was talking about Parental Guidance with Elvis - sharing my ideas because that’s what you  do when have a bestie that shares similar tastes in Music. It here that ideas saw daylight and that I felt comfortable and I was happy when he mentioned he was not done after episode 2 with a reprisal needed for the songs that never made it.

I would say he’s more graceful as a Dj than he was in the Choir! With a deep dive into no-nonsense tunes, rolling breaks with features from Artists like Danny Wabbit, Kiddy.Wav, MCR-T, Peach and Sally C - we are in an Era of Good Music full of thrills and unexpected clap-backs. 

Since the year started I have watched Elvis have a strong first quarter of the year, playing the role of Underground Africa Staple, Wide Receiver and Disk Jockey that is slowly working on incorporating a Multi-Genre approach to Music. Whether he is closing or opening, id say he’s got the sound an energy to single handedly fuel a dance floor. Style, Style and more Style is what Episode 9 is all about, with a banger from “Partyboi called Take Off Your Clothes” starting things off, followed by a classic by MCR-T the flow and pow wow from this mix is both busy as it is coordinated with surprises as we rove around. 

A power hour that delivers beautiful music from the archives - tune in because we all know we cannot get enough of ET when he’s at the club!

Episode 8 of Parental Guidance is a special one because till this day I still do not know how to beat match using Cdj’s, however in one take we made it work by precueing and seeing if it made sense.

Employing the basic tenant’s of Disco, I can go on about how I lack technique but if there is one thing I have is STYLE!!! Which is why I call myself First take Tish.

Even though I am 20min over the regulations, with the tracklist shared, I don’t think anyone will detest 80mins of 5am rollers. Especially when it’s an ode to Pop Music reworked, 90s music influenced, groovy from Start to Finish and a representation of four to the floor techno that is Party Ready!

I had a hip house mix prepared for this occasion however, after playing hip-hop for the first time and much in the spirit of The Ranch, I decided I to record a techno mix, with a collection of Alt House, Tribal House and what I might describe the techno that gallops, dedicated to Non-Stop Groove.

This episode is a dedication to another lap around the sun, an eagerness for more music shared and the feet dancing to this. I continue to reach out to people and folks that I am sure find my messages random but are always keen to be a part of this podcast called Parental Guidance. With some of them featuring in the 2nd half of year so bear with me.

Listening Recommendation
1. Please make use of headphones (especially to the Dj’s) or noise cancelling earphones, there is an assortment of sounds and high production that is breath taking.
2. If you want to enjoy the gallops that come with techno music and Hi-Fi music then you should use Acoustic headphones, I tried to base the songs using a scale of clang and clap with some songs having a lot of space.

Having turned one years old and in what still feels like a developmental phase, nothing stays the same and so we embody that by changing our look while continuing with our love for yellow.
