Dans cet épisode, Rim Battal parle de son amour pour les livres, ces objets où l’on arrive à mettre autant de monde dans un si petit espace, et que l’on peut transporter avec soi. Elle présente trois ouvrages qui l’ont marquée et qu’elle retrouve dans les rayonnages de la Bpi.

Artiste et poétesse, Rim Battal est l’autrice de plusieurs recueils de poésie comme Vingt poèmes et des poussières (Lanskine, 2020) , L’Eau du bain (Presses du Réel, 2019, réédité au Castor Astral en 2024) ou X et Excès (Le Castor Astral, 2024). Son nouveau livre, intitulé Je me regarderai dans les yeux, paru en janvier 2025 chez Bayard, est aussi son premier roman. Il raconte l’histoire d’une jeune fille de 17 ans ressemblant beaucoup à Rim Battal et qui, à partir d’un traumatisme violent, amorce un chemin d’émancipation.

L’autrice présente trois livres qui l’ont marquée, de ceux que l’on pourrait « envoyer dans l’espace », à destination des des aliens qui voudraient découvrir « la richesse de la littérature humaine » : Aveux non avenus, de Claude Cahun, Sister Outsider, d’Audre Lorde et Baltiques de Tomas Tranströmer.
