We are all products of our preconceptions.  Even those that fancy themselves avant easily fall into the simplified categories that society’s norms have created for them.  It’s a matter of species survival.  Whereas mutation is good for evolution, it is anathema to the stagnation of maintaining our role as alpha beast on this planet.

Despite its futuristic warcry, most music is old and unchallenging.  Even the purveyors of futurism like Ornette Coleman and Frank Zappa have found themselves washing their feet in the tepid pool of rhythm and blues.  In order for any music to be completely challenging, it must jar the listener.  Attack the senses with information that is not so easily processed.  It comes as no surprise that this may not always be a pleasant experience.

Symmetry is the essence of beauty.  When model Marla Hanson was assaulted, her face was deemed unworthy of magazine covers because it lost its symmetry.  My music could easily be Marla Hanson’s face.  Scared.  Flawed, by society’s standards, yet maintaining the same beauty that always lies in the sweet songs of the Seirēnes.

FLESH WELDER - ZIPPERCUNT (TEXTBEAK RPG FVNK RMX)

Influenced by artists such as Coil, Cabaret Voltaire, and Skinny Puppy, Textbeak started creating music in the late 80s with Todd Sines. Together, they worked on various projects and eventually formed B/Re (Body Release) with Titonton Duvante and Charles Noel. Textbeak (as his project Bath) later signed with Jevan Records (run by gothic band Lestat) and recorded with producer Kramer (Shimmy Disk). He has since released solo works under the name Textbeak on various labels.   

Textbeak has performed at many events nationally and internationally, opening for notable artists such as Modern English, Merzbow, Nitzer Ebb, The Legendary Pink Dots and Meat Beat Manifesto. He has also remixed tracks for various artists, including Architect (aka Daniel Myer of Haujobb), ∆AIMON, Blush Response and Bestial Mouths. His 2016 album, Sick For Songs A Season Eats on Cleopatra Records, featured collaborations with Mark Stewart (The Pop Group), John Fryer (This Mortal Coil) and more.  

His new album, ASEMIC MUSICK, is planned for release in late 2025 on the Industrial Detroit label and features collabs with Antoni Maiovvi (Ye Gods), Brood Faye, Other, Broken Nails, Gwendolyn Dot and more!
