To begin Pride Month, we will read some of the works of the Ancient Greek Lyricist Sappho. Unlike many stories I have done in the past, these selected works will have an undertone of music, as is Sappho's style!

She was given nicknames such as the “Tenth Muse” (in Greek mythology, there are nine) and whose work highly spoke about her reverence, love, and desire for women, and who today is known as the symbol of love and desire between women with Sapphic and Lesbian deriving from her name and homeland in Greece called Lesbos.


So travel with me as we discover the world of LGBTQ authors from when they could not be genuinely open and be who they were born to be on Riverside Readings, a dramatic reading radio show hosted by me, Trent Mylie.


Fun Fact: Centuries after her death, statues, pottery, and even coins were made in her likeness and admiration!

"You Shine Like a Goddess" is a song inspired by Saphho's poem fragment 96. It is about the fascination, the passion and the vertigo a Woman feels for another Woman. The lyrics are partly in English, partly in Hebrew and partly in Aeolian. The Fragment 96 is told in Aeolian and in Hebrew

Pierce McMenamin aka “Pierce Fierce” is a music producer and DJ in Tampa, Florida, specializing in Dubstep. Pierce began his musical journey in 2008 at the young age of 11 as a drummer and immediately joined his middle school marching band in 2010. Listening to artists such as Bar9, xKore, Delta Heavy, Flux Pavilion & Skrillex in 2010, he became heavily influenced and developed a passion to produce music of his own. Pierce started producing music in 2012, at age 15, he established his “Pierce Fierce” alias later in 2013. With an ever-growing discography, he incorporates different genres of EDM and drives creativity into every track. He has played live at various venues and festivals across Tampa and creates unique musical experiences. Even though his experience shows, this is only the beginning of Pierce Fierce’s musical journey and he welcomes you into his world of catchy melodies, clappin’ drums, and heavy sub’s.
