Trending stond dit keer in het teken van de huidige situatie na de aardbeving in Turkije.

In de nacht van zondag op maandag 6 februari vond in delen Turkije en Syrië een zeer zware aardbeving plaats. De wereld leefde toen erg mee met deze humanitaire ramp, zo kwam er vanuit diverse landen veel hulp. Uiteraard ook vanuit Nederland.

In de landelijke media was er veel aandacht voor de Giro 555 actie die plaats vond in Beeld en Geluid. Op 16 februari stond Trending daarom in het teken van de aardbeving in Turkije. 

Bij ons in de studio was te gast Titus Kramer, honorair consul voor Turkije in Nederland. De afspraak die we toen maakte was om een aantal maanden later weer een uitzending te wijden aan deze verschikkelijke ramp. 

Tijd om een update te geven vanuit ondernemend opzicht. Wat voor een acties zijn er vanuit Nederlandse ondernemingen gestart en hoe staat het ervoor? Wederom was Titus Kramer weer te gast. Hij is naast honorair consul voor Turkije ook verbonden aan de Corendon Foundation. Ron Lemmens en Marc van Hal gingen met hem in gesprek over de huidige situatie.

Meteen na de zware aardbeving komt er noodhulp op gang. De organisaties die iets kunnen betekenen bundelen hun krachten via Giro 555. Één van die organisaties die gelijk voeten op de grond had ter plekke is Save the Children. Ron en Marc spraken met directeur Pim Kraan over hoe dat destijds gegaan is en hoe het er nu voorstaat.

VNO-NCW en MKB-Nederland organiseerden met het ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken, de Turkse Ambassade in Den Haag, de Nederlandse Ambassade in Turkije en de Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO) op 22 februari 2023 een speciale informatiebijeenkomst in Den Haag over hoe het Nederlands bedrijfsleven kan helpen in de nasleep van de recente aardbeving in Turkije. Er is uit die bijeenkomst veel voortgekomen. Zo gaat er hopelijk snel in Hatay voor 4000 tot 6000 mensen een hele wijk heropgebouwd worden. Frank Eyssen van NLWorks, initiatief van VNO-NCW vertelde er meer over.

Direct na de ramp zijn er veel ondernemers in actie gekomen. Zo ook Freddy van den Bergh, samen met zijn collega's van Eye-C-Multimedia. De aardbevingen hebben voor hem ook persoonlijke impact. Zijn vrouw is van Turkse komaf en heeft veel familie en vrienden in Hatay, één van de zwaarst getroffen provincies in Turkije. Vrij snel lanceerden zij de website I love Hatay. Hij vertelde zijn verhaal tijdens Trending.

Für unseren Sozialreport haben wir uns mit einer Vertreterin der NGO „Save the Children“ über die Situation der ukrainischen Flüchtlingskinder in Rumänien unterhalten. Kinder aus Familien mit nur einem Elternteil oder allein geflüchtete Kinder haben es besonders schwer, sich im Gastland zu integrieren.

Sara O'Meara, born Sara Buckner in Knoxville, Tennessee, was educated at various institutions, including Briarcliff Junior College, Endicott College, The Sorbonne, and Pasadena Playhouse. She lives in Paradise Valley, Arizona, with a son, John Hopkins, a daughter, Taryn, and three grandchildren. Her other son, Chuck, died in 1988, and her husband, Colonel Bob Sigholtz—a decorated veteran of three wars and former Athletic Director of Georgetown University—passed in 2005.
As a young woman, Sara faced terminal cancer but was miraculously healed at Evangelist Kathryn Kuhlman’s service in Los Angeles over 50 years ago, sparking a lifelong friendship and ministry. Sara now holds monthly healing services at The Little Chapel in Paradise Valley, with thousands of verified healings. Her book, Healed - Your Miracle Awaits, launched in 2023 and remains an Amazon #1 Bestseller. A second Miracle Healing book is in production.
Sara is also Co-Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Childhelp, a 65-year-old organization aiding abused and neglected children, having rescued over 13 million kids. Ummendorf liegt im Bundesland Sachsen-Anhalt und hat etwas weniger als 1000 Einwohner. Das heißt aber nicht, dass da nichts los ist.

Schüler und Schülerinnen der vierten Klassen haben sich mit den Kinderrechten und dem Land Indien beschäftigt. Sie haben viel recherchiert, Einwohner, den Bürgermeister und den Pfarrer ausgefragt, sie haben ein Mitarbeiterin der Hilfsorganisation "Save the Children" interviewt und Kontakt zu Kindern in Indien aufgenommen.

I’m just one voice, but seeing children starve or bombs dropped on them from above ignites a fire within me. I’m not a Muslim—I'm a human being. I cry out to God to end this injustice, to halt the deaths of innocent children.

Yet, deep down, I recognize this isn't some distant evil; it's a reflection of our own human nature. I've witnessed children die unjustly at the hands of every race's cruelty. And what do we do? We remain silent, caring only for our own.

But when we disregard the suffering of another's child, we set the stage for a world where no one will care when our own children are harmed. It's a cycle of apathy and complicity in a system that devalues life—a beast we all serve.

This is my anguished outcry against a world built on lies, a world I am forced to witness.

Coming originally from the UK, Sounds of Snow is an Amsterdam based producer.  After a musical upbringing centered around punk/ reggae, Snow had a firm grip on the beat but then discovered the wonderful sound electronic music can make, Going deep the genres of Chillgressive,psychill and psybient

Since 2018 he has been deeply rooted in the psy scene of the Netherlands and has also taken him to events in countries such a Finland, Italy, Greece, Latvia, France, Oman with more to come.
