The Canadian/American duo Caslow will be introducing a new sound in their upcoming EP “Not A Phase”, set to be released on April 14th, 2023 on Future Generation. The EP is an electric blend of the nostalgic 2000s pop punk sound and more modern melodic bass, showcasing their musical talent to adapt and merge flawlessly punk rock and electronic music. ‘Not A Phase’ features a handful renowned vocalists such as SayWeCanFly, Micah Martin and Manno, and is expected to catch the attention of those who are diving into the new era of EDM that many refer to as “rocktronic”. The rapidly rising duo hopes that by releasing the EP, their fans will understand the importance of the inner need of evolving as an artist to achieve personal growth.

“Your Boyfriend’s Car”, with the popular indie/emo rock artist SayWeCanFly, puts an emphasis on the EP’s pop punk side, demonstrating their ability to seamlessly blend different genres together. “Working with Braden was simply effortless and a pleasure. Brody and I have known Braden since the earlier years before Caslow, and to work with someone who has such in depth experience producing and performing was a true honor for us.”

When I first started this series, I was only thinking of mixing my favorite punk songs into EDM by the way of Remixing/Mashups/etc. Never did I think that these two genres were gonna collide the way that it has been these last two years. And it's definitely been amazing to see!

There are so much rocktronic/punktronic artists like Caslow, Sadbois, StS and even Illenium, now that I'm happy to say that I can continue making these mixes.

One of the most refreshing trends of 2023 has hands down been the rise of “rocktronic”; the genre known for fusing melodic dance music with rock and pop punk influences. To showcase the emergence of the genre, SayWeCanFly, Sadbois and VNDETTA joined forces for a collaboration which brings together the best of both worlds. Titled as ‘For The Most Part’, the rocktronic anthem is set to be released on the 8th of December, giving the fans of the genre one more song to crybang to before the end of the year.

The artists share their thoughts on the song: “We wanted to create an instrumental that tells a story that builds up to hope which lies in contrast to the lyrics from SayWeCanFly, which tells the story of overcoming heartbreak. When combined together this song captures the rare window of emotion when loss and sadness are overcome in our own heads, allowing us the ability to appreciate what we had while looking forward to the future.”

Coming off hot from their official remixes for rocktronic’s head honcho Illenium, both Sadbois & VNDETTA have been pushing the genre limits further with their unique rock-orientated takes on melodic bass music, with releases on reputable labels such as Ophelia, Subsidia and Circus Records. Add to the picture the fan-favorite singer/songwriter SayWeCanFly, who’s made a name for himself with his indie rock solo career, racking over 100 million streams across all platforms. Besides the super-talented artist’s successful solo venture, which has included 6 studio albums, he’s also featured on songs by renowned artists such as Said The Sky, William Black and many more.
