This is a compilation of the Attack of the Petscii Robots and Planet X3 soundtracks converted to MIDIfiles for The 8-Bit Guy's Commander X16 versions of the games. Original tracks have been converted to be compatible with General MIDI (GM) and made using the Roland SC-55 as a benchmark. There are even six new songs for Petscii Robots last levels (10-15) which hasn't been made into full songs like the original soundtrack (yet! ;)).

Attack Of The PETSCII Robots Theme (SC-55)

Essentially a minor-key version of "Bring Some Water". Made for a local game jam for a change in literally an hour and a half with extremely soapy ears.
Made purely on SC-55, even OPL2 and external effects were not needed.

I'm trying to get back into the swing of things, but I need to update some of my audio software and hardware. Money is tight, so I've opened up a ko-fi if anyone is interested in helping me keep the lights on while I do that. But ahhh you see, beyond the lack of inspiration (guilty as charged), there also lays a genuine desire to make better what was originally just meh! Therefore it's actually the bees knees!!!!!!!!111111

Jokes aside, I've been wanting to re-do this one for a while, what with my current knowledge of mixing and experience with making things and stuff and such. I'm actually really happy with the results on this one, I spent a lot of time mixing the right sounds together to make everything sound a little beefier, a little punchier. I also took some time to do same fake chorus, and even repeated the volume envelope automation from the Hexion cover, but this time on steroids lol.

I've never gotten results like this from any of the more advanced MIDI boxes before. Despite MSGS being so basic, and seemingly lacking in sounds and capabilities, it's shockingly versatile and capable of creating some amazing-sounding production with the right techniques and right amount of patience. The fact I was able to get the lead in particular sounding so close to that of the original is surprising even to me, and I'm the one that made it!

Electronic musician from Norway. I started playing piano/keyboards in the mid 80s. After a few years at the municipal music school, I quickly grew tired of the simple piano-only education and got to move on to classes with keyboards and synths. From the early beginning with Technics K-200 rhythm keyboard from 1983 via some Casios/Hohner keyboards, I evolved with the later Technics KN-1000 and KN-2000 before moving on to Roland XP-50. As the computer revolution made DAWs affordable, 1999 made sequencing using Cubase easy and the studio grew ever larger with more outboard gear. Today the studio has become a sizeable and functional MIDI/arranging studio with over 40 synths/modules and more centered around a MacPro with MOTU’s Digital Performer, and numerous more or less famous productions.

I have always had a musical approach towards sound engineering and composing, rooted mainly in vivid harmonic structures and saturated compositions. Inspiration has always been the likes of Jean Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Eric Serra to name a few giants in the electronic scene, but also a heart towards well produced pop music from the 70s and 80s as well as epic film scores from John Williams, Alan Silvestri and Hans Zimmer. The baby era of computer music from the late 80s and early 90s was also a heavy influence.
