Christine Blom is not your average artist. she’s the mastermind behind Bulle d'Art and NomadWallsgallerybkk, and the charismatic host of the "Vies de Nomade" podcast. Fluent in three languages and with a passport packed with international experience, Christine is a whirlwind of creativity and organisation.

Born with an insatiable curiosity and a flair for the dramatic, Christine’s journey through life is a tapestry of vibrant experiences and cultural explorations. Her knack for crafting unique events and her relentless self-demand have propelled her to create some of the most original festive and artistic gatherings around. But that’s just one side of the coin. Christine is also a sculptor, pouring her heart and soul into artistic pieces that tell stories of their own.

Christine and I discussed her superpower - adaptability from living in 7+ countries - and how she would fit right in with creating her fantasy cultural year. It was really interesting to find out her favourite dance, music, films and more!

Currently based in the bustling metropolis of Bangkok, Christine has carved out a niche for herself by blending her passion for art and event organisation into an eclectic artistic space. This sanctuary invites artists to express themselves freely and encourages visitors to discover, breathe, and connect through special moments of shared creativity.

Early Years 

Christine’s love affair with art began in the studio of Annabelle Hyvrier in Brussels in 2006. Here, she immersed herself in the fundamentals of figurative sculpture for two transformative years.

Lisbon Adventures (2008 - 2013) 

Moving to Lisbon in 2008, Christine expanded her artistic repertoire, delving into ceramics at the Fine Art University of Lisbon and under the tutelage of Helena Abrantes. Her time in Portugal was marked by a deepening of her craft, learning various glazing techniques and exhibiting her work.

Back to Paris (2013) 

Christine’s Parisian interlude saw her honing her skills at the Rrose Selavy studio, further solidifying her reputation as a dynamic and passionate artist.

Hong Kong Chapter (2015 - Present) 

Settling in Hong Kong, Christine launched "Momentsinclay" in August 2015, establishing herself as a sculptor and art consultant. Her work gained traction, leading to the founding of the Bulle d'Art community space in 2018. Here, she devoted herself to creating her own art and curating group classes and exhibitions.

Bangkok Bound (2022 - Present) 

Never one to stay put, Christine’s ventures led her to Bangkok, where she established NomadWallsgallerybkk in January 2022. This space continues to thrive, hosting sculpture classes and new artistic endeavours.

Podcasting & Curating (2021 - Present) 
In March 2021, Christine embarked on a new journey with her podcast "Vies de Nomade," celebrating the lives of modern nomads. By 2023, she was organising significant exhibitions, like “CHOICES: what do you stand for?” in Bangkok, showcasing both French and Thai artists.

International Exhibitions (2023) 
Christine's curatorial eye took Thai art to Portugal in summer 2023, continuing her mission of cultural exchange and artistic discovery.

Christine’s artistry is ever-evolving, deeply influenced by the places she’s lived and the experiences she’s amassed. Her sculptures, often characterised by vibrant colours, refined shapes, and emotional depth, are a testament to her journey as a nomad and artist. Through her work, Christine Blom invites us all to share in her stories, emotions, and the joy of constant discovery.

Christine Blom - The Artistic Nomad

This week we revisit Kerry's two prior interviews with Arkansan painter and sculptor, Kevin Kresse.  Kevin has exhibited his work around Arkansas, New York, Washington DC, Memphis, and Atlanta. His work has been featured in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, the Arkansas Times, Soiree magazine, and more, and he has been featured in pieces produced by local affiliates of ABC, CBS, and PBS television, as well as a short film by Garret Lakin.  The journey toward a career in art began with Kresse and his wife Bridget’s decision to pare down their lives financially. Both of the Kresses had “job-jobs,” as Bridget calls them. She was a financial planner, Kevin a newspaper art director. Work and money had been “all about accumulation.” The Kresses opted for a different road.  They gave their employers a year’s notice, lived cheaply, and saved money. Then they took a four-month trip to Europe. The trip to Europe was priceless. It laid the foundation for their marriage, they say. It gave them time to reflect — something Kevin points out is growing increasingly scarce for workaholic Americans — and it pointed the way toward their future. It was on that trip, Bridget says, that “Kevin decided to do his art."  "It's a kick knowing that my public work will still be there long after I'm gone," he said. "I never thought about that aspect too much until after my father died. It is also great hearing people interpret what they see in some of the work. It makes me realize that everyone sees art through their filter of life and that every interpretation is just as valid as the reason I did it."

Reprise | Kevin Kresse, Sculptor

Duane “Dewey” Goodwin is a Minnesota artist and sculptor who lives near Bemidji. A member of the White Earth Band of Ojibwe, Goodwin is a sculptor who primarily works in stone. He’s worked for over 50 years as an artist, including as art teacher in Bemidji. In 2012, Goodwin was a Community Spirit Award Honoree with the First Peoples Fund, which honors people for their commitment to sustaining the cultural values of Native people. His sculptures can be found across Minnesota, including along the banks of the Mississippi River and on college campuses. The sculptures portray the reality of life for Indigenous people in Minnesota, a mixture of embracing their culture and a remembrance of pain inflicted through colonization. 

Health issues have made it challenging for Goodwin to make art in recent years, and KFAI’s Joe Friedrichs spoke with the artist to find out if he is still planning to work and make art in the years ahead.

Lithospere is a one-man project by P∆N, that started in 2023 and lasted until 2025. The project aims to criticize and interpret artificial arts, imitating the mass layer. Hence the name of the project, which emphasizes the indispensability of humanity.
