Well this is not Phil Collins so dress sharp. MA1 is back in town with a fistful of beats and some bottom heavy bass. Containing five original tracks with trademark MA1 sound this EP is almost half a legacy of Mr. 1. 

The first track ‚Yeah‘ is nothing short of an edgy future jack anthem straight outta Chicagondon. Hands in theeyeah. ‚Sea Lion’ was to be the OS after all the other tigers Apple abused, but then came X. We licensed this smooth floating mf and put it out just cause we love you. The fine booty shaker that ‚Drop Dat’ is, it can cause wet dreams when sleeping thru. Just saying. Better: You, floor, now. And while you’re on it MA1 keeps you hooked with that infectious ‚love hook‘ of ‚Northern Lights’. Before you know it  ‚Free Your Mind‘ does it for you and you can go to heaven. Don’t thank us,

The first track from the second mini EP of the San Diego Tapes. This is a short clip from La Jolla Cove, the infamous part with lots of sunbathing Sea Lions (and a lot of annoying tourists). I hid my Zoom recorder just off the sandy part of the beach, up in the rocks to block as much wind as possible. Listen on headphones and look out for the rest of EP002 this week (and the last installment coming next week).

The 2nd EP from the San Diego tapes is bookended with two short clips from the infamous Sea Lion beach at La Jolla Cove. You can hear plenty of their loud barks with the crash of the waves, plus some (annoying) tourists trying to take pictures with them. You also hear a mother scolding her child for choosing to wear the wrong shoes to the beach. Enjoy on headphones.

Here you can find some excerpts from the hundreds of hours of sound I recorded at California's Channel Islands over a four month period between June and September of 2014.  The recordings were cataloged and processed into a ten channel installation while I was artist in residence at the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology in Oregon. The end result is an immersive and exploratory experience that investigates ideas of memory, place, and history through field recordings, interviews,* and music. Brooklyn NYC + Detroit | Message directly for inquiries about sampling recordings, bookings, collaborations, or questions | Since releasing a series of diverse mixtapes in 2011, Stefanski has slowly turned his focus to his own ambient productions, often built entirely of original field recordings. He has released a wide array of original soundscapes ranging from brief, high-def clips of thunderstorms to extended sound collages, each project sharing a hazy, psychedelic glow. Before moving to Brooklyn, Stefanski curated the chill out room for infamous Detroit after-hours rave BAK DØR. After relocating he released an LP of short field recordinged ("20 X 2"), a podcast for an experimental NYC label (Metamorph) and an album for Bivouac's "60 Minute Cities" series. His relaxing rain soundscapes are some of the most popular on soundcloud, with one clip nearing 14 million streams as of late 2020. More recently Stefanski expanded his productions with visual components, including a new website which hosts the unique travelogue "The San Diego Tapes" and photography prints for sale.
