Future Self’s latest offering, Throw, is a deep and evocative house cut with an unmistakable Bristol edge—textured, moody, and immersive. At the heart of the track is a striking vocal from Claire Tchaikowski, whose haunting delivery finds its roots in an unexpected connection. What began as a chance encounter at a local event led to Claire recording her vocals with none other than Neil Davidge—best known as the producer behind Massive Attack’s Mezzanine era, including the seminal track Teardrop. The result is a piece that fuses intricate sound design with a deeply emotive core, blurring the lines between electronic dance music and cinematic trip-hop vibes.
The remix package built around this core showcases the breadth of Bristol’s underground scene, with each local artist offering their own spin, none of which lean on traditional four-to-the-floor rhythms. Forsaken—long-time staple of the city’s dubstep heritage and friend of the artists for over 20 years—delivers a version steeped in low-end pressure and percussive depth, pulling from his deep roots as Soul Motive’s label head. Hanmoto twists the track into something murky, twisted and unstable, while Blue Regular leans into fractured beats and re-worked soundscapes, rounding off a release that’s as cohesive as it is intricately woven with the local sound of Bristol. Throw is as much a love letter to the local deep musical lineage as it is a forward-thinking club release, connecting decades of sound system culture with the pulse of edgy electronic music.

This episode focuses specifically on  his discussions bearing on the role lack or loss of self-control (akrasia in Greek) plays in the sort of problematic curiosity he criticizes in this work.  Plutarch claims that lack of self control is just as evident in this curiosity as it is in adultery. He also discusses some of the bad effects for the curious person, including being distrusted by others

This lecture discusses key ideas from the ancient Middle Platonist philosopher and biographer Plutarch's essay On Being A Busybody

This episode focuses specifically on he importance of developing self-control (enkrateia) in order to curb excessive and harmful curiosity.  We do this in general through habituation, training, and to some degree learning or study. He also provides in-depth discussion of a number of specific practices we can use in that process of moving ourselves into self-control and towards virtue.

We support all independent musicians who are doing something we find interesting. Our team members all have formal music education qualifications.

We are against corporate brainwash muzak, their puppet friends in the mass media, and many other corporate activities. We will fight their desecration of music until either it stops or we die. 

We believe in helping others in the face of corrupt laws and a broken system. We are pro democracy, green energy and free speech.

We're politically liberal. We cannot support the republicans, maga or gun violence in the usa. We don't see there's any real difference, other than in name, between the christian far right in the USA and the taliban in Afghanistan.

In the uk we are broadly pro LibDem/Green/Labour/SNP. We are VERY anti-tory, bnp, ukip, and any of their friends and associates. We have no trust at all in the uk right wing press monopoly and the bbc. Beware the bbc and its claims of neutrality. It is the propaganda mouthpiece of the tory party. It even charges a propaganda tax called the licence fee. But we like Test Match Special and Radio 6, so does that make us hypocrites...? Hmm.

We support independence for Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Cornwall. We support the individual and the underdog. We are anti-putin and his war, and pro-Ukraine.
