I had an idea of the structure and development of this track quite quickly. Young grass tempted to deviate by sequences entering from either side, temptation resisted, unbent growth represented by a final melody. Decided to use VCV Rack for this one. As I was going to be assembling the elements in a live mix I knew I wouldn't be able to play the final melody and manipulate everything else, hence VCV I was able to assemble the melody as multiple sequenced blocks that are played randomly, leaving my hands free for other things.  There is a lot of subtle modulation in each of the elements some of which had to automated; even using PatchMaster from MindMeld to set up performance macros where one knob controls multiple things I quickly ran out of physical controls; so like the melody I made a few practical compromises in what I manipulated live.  

I set everything up to record live to multiple tracks giving me the freedom to tweak the mix during the mastering stage. Other than EQ, saturation and gentle compression on both individual tracks and the master; the only extra effect I added is a very light touch of K7D - Tape Delay from imaginando on both sequences, the subtle ping-pong echoes integrated them intp the whole.

we'd left our headlights on
and parked in the wrong damn driveway.

We wandered to the beaches 
with the best of stone walls
so far from the real stonewall.
We ate some thing delicious

We sat near a public boat ramp
watched big trucks with trailers
some with more skills than others
tempting fate and driving backwards

Then later in the evening

still star struck from the evening
we found an obscure museum 
with a copper mine in the basement. 

There was a fruit stand on the way home.

Years ago I burned a CD for my parents, who at the time were among the few people that had ever heard any of my music. I put some intermissions in there between some songs, just for fun. One of them, "Interlude" has already been posted. 

I'm not sure if this one even made the cut, but I had fun doing it all the same. It's a repeating phrase with changing sound effects and instruments in the background. It has that intermission feel, and does give the impression that the next piece will be coming up shortly ... 

I call it simply, "The Bridge". 𖣑

This is the weirdest of The Artemis Trio pieces. The Jazz organ trio is a thing, and that's what this is, sorta. The organ in this track reminded me or a stadium organ played during baseball games, so that where the title, "Choke Up" (as in on the bat) came from. ⚾ Unlike the other Artemis Trio songs, there's an upright bass heard here. 

I made this in 2007, along with all the other "The Artemis Trio" tracks. There's still 1 or 2 hiding out somewhere.

Music produced entirely with a DSI MonoEvolver. The main pattern, generated by the sequencer throughout the piece, uses 3 oscillators in paraphonic mode. One of the three oscillators is modulated by a semitone, via the modulation wheel, in order to go from a major chord to a minor chord. Composed before 2020.

I'm primarily a visual artist both 2D and 3D, for the last decade I've operated almost exclusively in the digital 3D realm.   since the late 80s I've made periodic forays into the sonic world, MIDI sequencing, minimalism, musique concrète, found sounds  and improvisation.
