Little Black EP SFZ Demo

This is a demo track for the "Grumpy Phili Favourites" sample library from pianobook.co.uk, which provides samples of five registrations of a Philips Philicorda combo/home organ from the sixties. I also used the "Vintage Glockenspiel" library from the site. I converted both libraries to SFZ format, so I could use them with the sfizz plugin on Linux.

Recorded with Ardour 7 on Linux using the "sfizz" SFZ player and samples from "Grumpy Phili Favourites" and "Vintage Glockenspiel" libraries from pianobook.co.uk converted to SFZ by me, an old SF2 soundfont for the bass using the "ACE Fluid Synth" plugin and the Kurzweil PC3K factory patch "'60s Rock&Soul" for the drums.

Composed and produced by Christopher Arndt in March 2023.

Effects added in the DAW: reverb from "LSP Impulse Reverb Stereo" and echochamber.ch spring reverb impulse response and "EQ4Q Stereo". Mastered with "ZamAudio ZamMultiCompX2" and "CHOW Tape Model".

My submission for the Libre Music Challenge # 34: Virtual Playing Orchestra

The challenge for September 2024 was to make a track with Virtual Playing Orchestra.

All sounds must come from Virtual Playing Orchestra. Any DAW and any effect plugin could be used, as long as everything is free software.

Amateur hour inscrumental music for prickly pears. This is a space for ideas, experiments, rough drafts, and audio doodles. 

I'm a music enthusiast by compulsion and a software developer by trade hailing from Cologne, Germany. I developed my deep love for synthesizers and sound design in my thirties, although I had been playing various instruments since my childhood and even had a Korg Poly 800 analog synthesizer in my teens.

I have an eclectic taste in music, but I gravitate towards melodic pieces, which tell a story. My compositions also cover a wide variety of styles from synth pop to progressive rock and folk to classical.

Yessir. things happen. A mediocre musician making music with little to no knowledge of music theory. Enjoy!
