Shantel began his DJ career in Frankfurt, Germany, and was inspired by the audience reaction to gypsy brass bands such as Fanfare Ciocărlia and trumpeter Boban Marković to infuse electronically tweaked Balkan gypsy music into his DJ set. Shantel released two compilations of his popular DJ night, Bucovina Club, on his own Essay label, which won the Club Global award in the 2006 BBC Radio 3 Awards for World Music. He was one of several DJs to remix recordings of Taraf de Haïdouks and Kočani Orkestar on the Electric Gypsyland compilations from Belgium's Crammed Discs label, and released his next album on that label. He gained popularity in Turkey after recording the clip of 'Disko Partizani' in Istanbul.[3] Shantel's 2007 album Disko Partizani departed somewhat from the techno sound of Bucovina Club, concentrating more on the music's Balkan roots.[4] The album was awarded Platinum award in Turkey by Mü-Yap in 2008[5] and 2009.[6] In 2011 he released an album with Oz Almog named Kosher Nostra Jewish Gangsters Greatest Hits. This album is a wild mix of Swing, Jazz, Twist, Charleston and Yiddish songs and Ballads.

Hannes started djing in 1989. Inspired by Jean Michel Jarre he developed a distinctive and exceptional style of techno-, tech- and electronicamusic - full of synthiziser sounds. Most significant are the melodic elements in his sets and tracks. He is one of the most wanted austrian Djs in the international Techno scene.
 
In his hometown Salzburg he played at the best and renowned clubs. Hannes set the banchmark for the local scene and is the Head of the legendary "Techno Donnerstag".
 
With the young age of 16 he founded his first production companies and Hannes still works as Producer and Remixer. He created a number of productions alongside his bro Paul Darey and collaborates with Djs like Oscar L, DaFresh, Joe Red, Gaga, Saytek, Richard Cleber, Tony Dee or Sebastian Ledher.
 
Hannes released on well known Labels as Deeperfect (Stefano Noferini), Monique Musique, Shibiza Rec., Natura Viva, Pornographic Rec. (Christian Varela), GT Muzike, Monza Ibiza Rec., Jekos Music, Deep Stripes or Pacha Rec.
 
His tracks were supported by Djs like Umek, Maceo Plex, Paco Osuna, Richie Hawtin, Marco Carola, Luciano, Roger Sanchez, DaFresh and many more.
 
Hannes' own Radio Show "This is Tech - a Journey into sound" is going around the world and were broadcasted in radio stations in the USA, United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Russia, Greece, Germany...
The Show is always on the top of "Techno-Live-Sets". (#1 march 2017)
 
Global player Hannes played at festivals and clubs in Ibiza (Amnesia, Pacha, Space, BoraBora), United Kingdom, Italy, Hungary, Serbia, Slovakia, Austria, Germany....
