“Kambri’s first graffiti” is an audio installation that aims to make the wider Australian National University public more aware of the effect architecture has on our behaviour and daily lives, especially on how we capitalise and travel spaces. It also plays of notions of the gaze, and personal privacy and asks the question, who is the new Kambri development for?

The speed of the audio is purposefully slow in order to force a consideration of the new development, interrupting the usual high-speed dynamic. The listener is directed to walk through the space and experience the site, reimagining Kambri, while they listen.

I believe people should be active and mindful in their consumption as their awareness and criticism help to regulate the production of culture. I produced this work in the hope that it leads to a listener’s embodied consideration of this communal space, Kambri, that claims to be a hub and “Meeting place” for all of the ANU community.

The activated listener is made aware of their role as a consumer and member of the space, through this work.

**This work is intended for on-site consumption as a guide through the Kambri space, starting from the QR code on the round student notice board. The work is not intended to be consumed without the context of the space so please take that into consideration when listening from elsewhere.
